I need more information about soaking brown rice. This is news to me.

Does it still need some cooking after soaking overnight?

Has anyone tried skillet browning the rice before boiling? White

Basmati rice is my favorite for rice dishes with sauces but I still

prefer regular long grain white rice for desert recipes.

Brown rice is great for cold salad dishes.

Does anyone use Brown Basmati rice?

Rice cooker is easier, me thinks.

My DH does this sometimes. I always forget.

I always use the brown basmati; I don't presoak it; it cooks up well

and doesn't have that boiled grass taste that sometimes happens with

brown rice. I use 1 c rice to 1 3/4 c water and cook 40-50 minutes,

until it smells done. Also, I've recently noted that pot size seems

to make a big differennce. I switched to a smaller pot and haven't

had a watery batch of rice since. Has anyone else experienced that?

Peace,

Diane

I use it the Brown Basmati rice, and cook it in my Zo rice cooker. I

like to put minced garlic and different spices in it.

I cook this either on the GABA setting or regular brown setting. Both

soak the rice before cooking. The GABA soaks it for a couple of hours

or more though.

It's a very tasty rice that cooks up light and fluffy. It's a lot

lighter than regular brown rice.
