Guest guest
I have discovered that fresh greens packaged in the 'hard type' what looks like plastic boxes stays fresher and lasts longer than those packaged in plastic bags. The 'hard type' plastic look alike boxes are actually made from 100 percent all natural corn. Grown by farmers in the US. One of my favorite products is PS Private Selections. Certified Organic. A large container was on sale for less than $4. Great product . I plan to write the company to say how much I appreciate their product. Guest guest
You really need to watch the 'use by' dates on those boxes of greens, though. Here I frequently find ones that are going to expire the next day. By that time there are some slimy things, already. I won't buy them unless there is at least a week left before they expire cause with just two of us, we won't use all of it in just salads. Guest guest
Katie, You are right about the 'use date'. Especially if the item is on sale that is the clue that the pull date is close. I've had good luck so far but then I eat a lot of greens when my Mesclun is not growing. Guest guest
You can also recycle some of these containers into your garden as they are made of corn syrup (finally a non edible use for that stuff!). They usually have a sticker that says... I'm made of corn syrup and can be recyled into the earth... anyone seen those out there yet? We use them for mini gardens too! They work excellent for lettuce and broccoli babies! Life is not measured by how many breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
