Because Judy is on holiday , Donna has asked me to submit the question

of the week.

This one is my favorites. I submitted it in August of last year and we

had some really interesting posts.

I was off line for a couple months so hope this question was not asked

recently.

Is there a vegetable that you would like to try but haven't because you

do not know how to prepare it?

Yes, those green things that look like unripe bananas. I don't even remember

what they are called, but I would like to try them. I think it is pantini or

something like that.

Very good question, Deanna.

I think you toss them into stir fry at the last minute. They should

be cooked but don't take as long

Asparagus or brussell sprouts are totally foreign to me. There is a

spaghetti squash lurking in my fridge right now - I'll let you know how

that turns out :) Cyndy

Asparagus and cauliflower are my favorite veggies. A lot of times my lunch will

consist of 10-12 spears of raw asparugus, broken into pieces with a little olive

oil and balsalmic vinagar over it and then sprinkles with sesame seeds. Oh yum.

Thanks Deanna. Great question.

My question is about Fava Beans. I cooked fresh Fava Beans once and didn't

care for it. I love beans so this was a surprise to me. Maybe I didn't

cook them in the way that is best to enjoy their flavor. All I did was

shell them and then boil them in a little salted water with a little cooking

oil, like I do many other beans. I was wondering how you enjoy cooking

with Fava Beans. I seldom have the opportunity to be at the store that I

had found them at, but next time I was, I was wanting to try them again.

Thanks,

Judy

Judy's comment about fava beans brought to mine my one and only time cooking

fava beans from the original bean! You have to " shell " the beans

twice...meaning yhou have to take off the outer coating twice before you cook

them. What a pain!!! But, I liked them a lot when yhou did that and then just

added the seasoning.

I like to use gallon glass pickle jars as a mini washing machine. At

home I use it for panty hose cleaning. For camping we used for all

small items. We put in the clothes, water and soap. Screw on the lid

and shake it. We dump out the soapy water and use clean water to rince

in the same way.

We used to use coffee cans as ice cream makers. Put a small can with

the ingrediants, put on plastic top, set into a larger can, fill with

ice and salt, seal with plastic lid and then just toss or roll and

before you know it....Ta Da....Ice cream.

My other favorite thing to recycle is the face of a small package, like

pudding or crystal lite boxes. They make wonderful postcards. Wonder

if I could get the companies to pay me for advertising their product

through the mail? LOL
