Guest guest
My 2 new rescued kitties want to eat veggies and beans. Is that OK? They each love a garbanzo bean, a black bean, corn kernel, teeny piece of lettuce, I wanted to ask. Old Koko never liked anything but hjis food. Guest guest
As long as they get a high protein diet and plenty of taurine then veggies and fruit won't hurt them unless it gives them a little loose stool. I have birds and feed Mike's Mash. Info can be found on under Mike's Manna Mash. All my animals love it. The dogs eat the goodies off the floor when the birds sling it. The cats sometimes get lucky before the dogs do. My rabbits and guinea pigs like a small nibble. No one here has ever suffered. The only pets that I have that I don't offer veggies to are my ferrets.Even my 50 inch IG gets a few little bites when I pick out some goodies for him. Good for you that you have two rescue kitties! Guest guest
Hi Donna I don't think there's a problem. I had a cat who was anyone's for a piece of melon and who also loved cucumber; Poppy and Layla love tomato soup and they like anything flavoured with lemon even though cats are supposed to hate citrus flavours. Layla has rather a taste for smoked paprika and I even caught her chewing on a dried chipotle chile. They haven't come to any harm - I think cats are generally pretty canny about what they eat. Hope those kitties are keeping well and not causing too much havoc! Christie , Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > > My 2 new rescued kitties want to eat veggies and > beans. Is that OK? Thanks for any help on what they can and can't have, Donna My Sidney loves cooked broccoli, all 7 nibble celery leaves, lettuce - especially romaine, collard greens, and they get the first washed leaves of fresh spinach - if I don't give it to them they'll jump up on the counter ( a no no they usually won't do in front of me) and snatch it ! recently discovered they like the inner husks from fresh corn too. years ago I had a cat who demanded the cob when we had corn on the cob - didn't want his own ear, even with butter, had to have ours! He was weird, used to have a sip from my wine, a sip from the boyfriends wine, then go curl up. 'till the night we had vodka in lemonade -- he loooooooooved it! after that anytime we had wine he'd sniff both glasses, cuss both of us out, and stalk off into the other room.( now I'd no more let my cats have alcohol than I would a kid but like I said it was a long time ago) onions and chocolate are poison to cats, saw something on tv a while back about grapes and rasins being a choking hazard for dogs and cats, might want to smash any beans they get to eat just to be on the safe side. obviously they are very intelligent kitties, supplementing the meat they have to have with the wonderful veggies their mommie donna eats!! Peace, Angela great grandma recycled, she called it making do. who I am is fine, it's just this body that's disabled! Choose the right car based on your needs. Check out Autos new Car Finder tool. Guest guest
Ok Marilyn I have my list started no onions, corn or chocolate. No I they are not on a vegetarian diet. I know that isn't for cats. Thanks again. Also try small pieces of Cantaloupe!!! They usually love it, too. Just make sure they get some meat. Guest guest
It should be safe, as others said. Here is a link to an article on raw food diet for cats, including veggies and fruit. Sometimes called BARF for " Born Again Raw Feeders " or " Bones And Raw Foods " : http://cats.about.com/cs/nutrition/a/rawfooddiet_2.htm Hth!
