Well I just answered my own question by googling and Wikipedia says that cupcakes and fairy cakes are the same. Take a look at the pictures on this blog - they take certainly their cupcakes seriously! http://cupcakestake <http://cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.com/> thecake.blogspot.com/ Christie @ <%40> , " christie_0131 " <christie0131 wrote: > > I recently bought Vegan with a Vengeance and there are a few cupcake > recipes in there which I am keen to try out. Guest guest
I recently bought Vegan with a Vengeance and there are a few cupcake recipes in there which I am keen to try out. However one thing I am not certain of is: what size is a cupcake? The book proposes using a muffin tin but my deep dish muffin tins look way too big at 2 1/4 inches deep and 3 1/14 inches across. I imagine cupcakes to be about the same size as fairy cakes - would this be right? I know it probabaly doesn't matter but I'd hate to produce some kind of rather chunky and obese cupcake if svelte and petite is what is required, LOL. I figure it moght also make a bit of difference in the cooking time. (Baking is not my speciality.) TIA Christie

Guest guest
cupcake cups are normally about 2 inches across and about 1.5 inches deep. When the cakes cook they puff up to dome about .5 inch above the top of the cup.
