I thought it would be fun to know what food gives you comfort and a warm fuzzy

feeling. Mine are muffins and fresh baked bread with jam or butter. Yum!

When I was growing up, my mother fed me milk toast anytime I was feeling bad or

needed comforting. It is like cinnamon toast, sans cinnamon, and then put in a

bowl and eaten with milk. I still crave this when I am not feeling well.

Milk toast is the first thing I think of when I don't feel like eating

anything else!!!

Garlic cheese grits is always comforting.

Mine is super UNhealthy! I love poutine...french fries and gravy with cheese

curds!!! I call them Canadian Nachos because once you have the french fries and

gravy, you can go crazy and add anything you want!!!

For beans and rice this is a favorite of mine. I found it years ago in a

magazine.

Quick and Easy Black Beans and Rice Serves 3-4

1 (5 oz) pkg saffron rice mix

1 (15 oz) can black beans

3 Tbsp fresh lime or lemon juice

1 1/2 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp ground cumin

2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced

Dash of hot saude or cayenne pepper ( optional)

Cook rice mix according to package directions. Keep warm. Drain beans.

Reserve

2 Tbsp bean liquid. Combine beans, reserved liquid, and remaining

ingredients

in saucepan. Cook over medium heat until thoroughly heated. Serve beans

over

rice. Can garnish with chopped green (spring) onions, sour cream, low-fat

plain yogurt, or chopped cilantro. Enjoy!

We can only have just one? Some days it's whatever doesn't eat me first.

I couldn't pick just one, so here is my list:

Scalloped corn

Beans and cornbread

Oatmeal with lots of butter and brown sugar

Snickerdoodles with ice cold milk

Homemade ice cream sammiches with oatmeal cookies

and of course, chocolate

This list is subject to change without notice.
