Guest guest
I have asked around work and no one knows about milk toast but one person from Indiana. I don't think it's some people in Calif eat. Thanks for the memory...I think I'll make it tonight....we toasted our bread and then buttered it and poured the warm milk over it. genny_y2k <genny_y2k (AT) (DOT) <genny_y2k%40> com> wrote: One of my favorite 'comfort foods' and one that was always given to me as a child when I was not feeling well. Very easy to make. One way is to butter a slice of bread on both sides and brown both sides in an iron skillet. This will help to keep the bread from becoming too soggy. Heat milk, but do not boil and drench the toast. We had ours with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Another way is just to brown bread in your toaster. Add heated milk, butter, sugar and cinnamon. Sugar and cinnamon not recommended when one is not feeling well. Babies and toddlers especially love this soft comfort food. Guest guest
My mother made it for us when I was young. I LOVED it. In fact, I tried to recreate it when my kids were young, but it wasn't the same. I grew up in northern California and my mother was a 4th generation California. ;-) My mother passed away years ago or I would have been able to ask her how she made it.
