I've always had a Kitchen Aid....however.....I just needed to buy a

new one and after using it 2-3 times the blade flew out of the

middle spindle and I couldn't get the blade spindle out of the

machine or the bowl off the machine.

If it was like the old ones were, you could get the spindle of and

the bowl and just order new parts..Now you have to get a whole new

machine!

It was under warranty so KA sent me a new one, I had to send the old

one back.

In the meantime....I ordered a Cuisinart because I knew I'd wait

longer than I wanted to for the replacement. I LOVE this cuisinart.

It's so much better quality.

The blade goes to the outer edges of the bowl, which the KA

doesn't. The blade is part of the spindle, not just 'slid in' like

the KA is. It can really handle the hard foods I mix to make the

raw desserts.

I use the KA only for wet ingredients now. You still have to tug a

little to get the blade out of the bowl and bowl off the machine.

Everytime I use it I wonder if it's gonna get stuck on the machine

again like the other one did.

KA used to make a good machine, but in my humble opinion they've

gone backward.

I love the Cuisinart...the blade spindle and the bowl come easily

off the machine, there's no 'fight'.

I have a cuisinart food processor and blender, both of which I got off Ebay

for very reasonable prices. They were both reconditioned industrial models. I

love them. Amy

Thanks for this info. I checked with comsumer report and sure enough

their recommended processor was Kitchen Aid..I did not see any write-

up about Cuisinart. I have a new Cuisinart grill and it is fantastic.

I told my daughter that we should check out the Cuisinart processor.

Consumer report did give some good advice on choosing a processor.

The article states " not to count the speeds " really the only thing of

importance is high, low and pulse. It also suggested to check

the 'feed tube'. The larger and wider the easier to put in large

items like potatoe, chunks of cheese, cukes, etc.

We have a Cuisinart. It works okay but the container bowl breaks

sometimes. It has a crack in the bottom and I glued it up. It also

has a cracked spindle. I think I would check out other brands. Last

fall we had a similiar conversation and Donna recommended one. I

think it was a KA and was reasonable.
