Guest guest
Poke is VERY POISONOUS. My mother would make sure she only used the young tender leaves and then she would boil it 5 times. Each time dumping the water and refilling the pot. After it was cooked, then we would eat it just like greens or spinach. We always call it Poke Sallet, but it is also called Poke Salad or just plain Poke. The real name is Pokeweed. We never thought of it as a weed. Poke grows wild on the side of the road, so that is why in the song " Polk Salad Annie " , thats all they ate, cause it was free, and a weed. Personally I have also not ever seen or tasted a perogi. They sound so fun when I see them in cookbooks. Mashed potato filled dumplings. Ooooh a double starch fried in oil... how much better could it get? Guest guest
I just had these for dinner last night. I was beat and though I wanted to cook something gourmet I just didn't have it in me! Popped these in boiling water until they floated. Put them in a baking canned directly after I drained. Poured some marinara sauce and sprinkled some mozarella and baked them for several minutes until the cheese was melted. Threw together a quick salad and had fantastic and filling in 15 minutes with leftovers for lunch. I of course could eat the Perogie's plain and be perfectly satisfied!! ~Amber Building a website is a piece of cake. Small Business gives you all the tools to get online. Guest guest
We had perogi's last night for dinner, my husband cooked them in the deep fryer, they were very good. Of course what could be bad about a dumpling with cheddar cheese and potatoes deep fried.
