Guest guest
I buy any type I see and I cut a big chunk and stand at the sink with watermelon in one hand and the salt shaker in the other. I prefer the seedless, but they are usually too expensive. If the watermelon doesn't just get eaten out of hand, I'll put some in smoothies. Guest guest
The seeded and seedles in our area, are the same price usually, so I always opt for the seedless. I usually just eat it cut up in chunks in a bowl, fruit salad or occasionlly pureed in lemonade or a smoothie. Yummmmmm. such great food just the way it is isn't it. Guest guest
I am reminded of the watermellon boats that my precious grandmother created for us. Filled with watermellon balls all ready to eat. At my daughter's wedding a relative created a watermellon whale and filled it with melon balls. I like to eat watermelon by the slice, outside so I can join in on the watermelon seed spitting contests. It's the only accepted fruit that one is allowed to let the juice run down your chin. Guest guest
Eating it with a little salt sprinkled on it is my most usual way, but lately I have put chunks in the juicer and mixed it with other less juicy fruits/veggies. It tastes great with kale for example. Red, yellow, seeds, no seeds, it is all good and it tastes of summer! , " wwjd " <jtwigg wrote: > > What are some of your favorite ways to use Watermellon? Guest guest
I saw this recipe on the food network and wanted to rush out and buy several watermelons. Drunken Watermelon Recipe courtesy Sandra Lee Show: Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee Episode: Spicy Sports Spread 4 pound seedless watermelon 2 cups tequila 1 cup triple sec Lemon-lime soda (recommended: Sprite) With a knife, shave off the stem end of the watermelon, just enough so that it sits flat. Cut the top off the watermelon, about 3 inches down. Scoop out half of the watermelon with a melon baller and set aside Scoop out remaining watermelon, leaving the rind-bowl. This will be your punch bowl. Transfer scooped out melon (not the melon balls) to a blender and puree; may be done in batches. Push watermelon puree through a strainer to remove pulp and any seeds. Return watermelon water to the watermelon punch bowl. Stir in tequila, triple sec, and melon balls. Top off with lemon-lime soda. Serve cold over ice. Guest guest
Wow, I can't believe I'd forgotten about those! My mom used to make those for birthday parties, etc., when I was a kid--So pretty and yummy! Thank you for stirring up those memories, Deanna!! (And I just love the idea of a watermelon whale.) I love watermelon, but for some reason the yellow ones we've gotten this year have been especially delicious. We've been starting the day with bowls of cantaloupe and watermelon chunks for breakfast this summer--Yum! Guest guest
My supermarket has packages of pre-cut melon chunks. The watermelon is the cheapest. I've been having a small bowl of chunks in mid-afternoons on warm days and feeling refreshed. Oh, my guinea pig says watermelon is the best melon and I must share a piece with him or he will WHEEEEK at the top of his lungs and take offense. I don't need that kind of pain, so I share. :-) I might have to get an actual melon again and try out some new recipes. -ginger mommy slave to Mike T. Guest guest
We buy red seeded watermelon. We just slice it and eat it like that! -Sara- In a message dated 8/15/2007 11:31:31 A.M. Guest guest
I love watermelon just the way it comes. I slice a piece off of the melon and put it on a plate. I then salt it and eat it with a fork. I will eat either type, but the one with the seeds has a better taste and more juice, in my opinion. Marilyn Daub mcdaub Vanceburg, KY My Cats Knead Me!!
