Guest guest
I walk in the mornings with these two retired nurses and they both can like crazy. They were both commenting this year about making millionaire relish and one made like 24 jars and brought me a jar to try. I liked it so much that I halved the recipe and made it myself. It's a cooked relish with zucchini, onions, and red and green pepper that are put through a grinder and it's REALLY tasty on a sandwich. I just make a sandwich of a skimming of Earth Balance, relish, and some extra sweet onions (I love onions) and it is really nice. Both of the ladies eat it with cheddar cheese. If you'd like the recipe I can look it up for you :0) And Sue, that is exactly how I made my syrup....just blackberries and sugar....very yummy. Tommarow if it doesn't rain, we are going to hit the U PICK Blueberry farm. Unfortunately, we haven't had enough hot weather so far this summer for there to be a real abundance of berries. Now last year was amazing! Stef ---
Guest guest
I get a chuckle from the name, millionaire relish...if you get the chance please post the recipe, even though we need to wait a couple of weeks for the peppers to grow. We are late with peppers, but got lots of zucchinis! The description reminds me a bit of the relish that they use in muffalata sandwiches in New Orleans? even though those have green olives in them. Yum.... I also used 1/2 fruit and 1/2 sugar when I preserved the loquats from the tree. Got very different results when i used part green loquats. The green ones act like pectin, and no added pectin is needed. I got a firmer jam with the green ones and no pectin than when they all ripened and I did use pectin. I did use lemon juice when I did not use pectin and it worked great. , " steffdav46 " <steffdav46 wrote: > > I walk in the mornings with these two retired nurses and they both > can like crazy. Guest guest
Please do post the recipe. I used to make a relish with green tomatoes and cucumber and green peppers, but I lost it years ago. Guest guest
That sounds like Chow Chow. A relish that is very popular in my part of the world. Made with green tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, cucumbers and cabbage. --- In , Katie M <cozycate wrote: > > Please do post the recipe. Guest guest
My recipe did not use cabbage and the peppers were just bell peppers, not hot ones. I made a whole bunch of it about 5 years ago and am almost out, so need to find a recipe to make more. Kaite Dale Calder <dalecalder2003 wrote: That sounds like Chow Chow.
