Guest guest
There seems to be a lot of hatred or dislike of Canadians by Americans. Being a person who finds it hard to hate , particularly whole bodies of people, what is it that a lot of Americans seem to dislike about Canadians? I'll ignore the Anglo-Saxon comment for reasons that will be obvious to most. Jo > Good heavens, who said we should. Guest guest
Canada's government, not Canadians. Canada's government is still " indulging " in destroy the natives to much bigger degree than even our genocidal idiots in the DC whorehouse. Or, I should say, I can only speak for myself. Having traveled to England, Bahamas, 39 states, Canada and lived in Mexico, I can honestly say I've never met anyone who dislikes Canadians. I've heard talking heads yap about the government and I, on a personal level, dislike the government up there in some aspects more than the government here. Some of the " patriotism at any costs " folks are anti-Canadian because of the whole amnesty thing and not being gungho over attacking Iraq. Jo commented that she couldn't understand why people disliked the French, and pointed out that the French people she knows are nice. You then pointed out that she only knows a small number of them, implying that the rest aren't very nice... I think you're statement is far more racist. Guest guest
JO, & Peter I did not say you were racist I said the statement was. Peter my comment was she singled out a few over the many Being of American Indian decent and born in the USA living in Australia for 20 years I can tell when someone makes a racist comment EVEN if they don't mean to if I thought Jo was racist the statement would have read allot different I dare not say it here. My comment was only to point out how easy it is to be deemed a racist. Jo I was at work all day and on the way home I was talking to my wife who Is from Italy and I commented on your statement I told her in no way did I think you were racist but your statement surely was. there is no way to make that statement about any group without crossing the line. I didn't mean to offend you just point out a simple fact that I have been on the receiving end of too often. your oxford English dictionary doesn't mention how it feels to be on the receiving end of those comments does it..? thank you for your time Craig On Behalf Of Jo CwazySunday, May 08, 2005 7:09 PM Subject: Re: Canadians Oxford English Dictionary: Racial (-shal) a. Are you trying to say that you believe the French would object to someone saying that all the French people they had met were nice? I can't imagine if someone said that about English people I would be upset! Racism is about condemnation of individuals / groups because of their nationality - at the risk of seeming a little insulting, I get the impression you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder, and maybe you need to step back before branding offensive words like "racism" around when there is no need to. Guest guest
Jo, I would really like to clear the air on this matter because I feel it effects the whole group, not because I think I am right or that you are right because this issue is about perception you perceived that I was saying you were racist ..nothing could be further from the truth. But you perceived it so my comments were not taken the way they were intended. when a racist comment is made the person on the receiving end is the only one who can make the judgement that it is racist or not. just like my comments how ever innocent there intentions have offended you for that I am sorry if you would like I will explain myself further but please accept my apologies for offending you. maybe this topic is a little to intense over the net because with our words we miss the facial expressions we miss the tone of our voices so the way we say things can be much easier misunderstood or perceived once again I am sorry I offended you Craig
Guest guest
Craig Do you know what it feels like to be called racist when nothing could be further from the truth. You have intentionally put the wrong meaning on my words, to make yourself look clever, and you have publicly said they are racist words when they most definitely are not, and you have been totally offensive. I do not wish to continue in any discussion with you, as I find you personally offensive.
