Guest guest
Oh god, this is one of those times that I hope I'm among " friends. " Over the last couple of weeks since I have given up meat, then eventually gone completely vegan, I must say that I've been much more...shall I say...flatulent than usual. Noticeably. Abhorrently. On one hand I can see where my body may be " blowing away the impurities " , but on the other hand...I thought it was dairy that gave people " the winds " to begin with. I'm confused. Can any of you testify? Can any of you spread yourselves wide and blow through the hole in my dilemma? --Kevin
Guest guest
Hi Kevin This sometimes happen when you change your diet. It will probably last only a few weeks, until your tubes get used to everything. You could try drinking fennel tea, or peppermint tea after meals - that is usually very helpful. Don't worry - you are among friends. Jo , " Kevin L. McDonald " <kevin@b...> wrote: > Oh god, this is one of those times that I hope I'm among " friends. Guest guest
Hi Kevin First let me say that it is good that you can laugh about it! Especially with such an uncomfortable situation. Natural, but none the less embarassing. It has happened to all of us I'm sure and I noticed it happens most when I eat excess amounts of broccoli, which I am known to do. Because our diets consists of a lot of " windy " vegetables and beans, it can happen quite easily. I've not found a solution, but I can say that it rarely happens to me now as it did in the beginning. Now my biggest problem seems to be the rumbling my tummy does. Every once in awhile it will just start talking away, hungry or not. Usually when I am making a sales presentation to a new customer. I have no solution, but just wanted you to know that you are not alone. Nikki , " Kevin L. McDonald " <kevin@b...> wrote: > Oh god, this is one of those times that I hope I'm among " friends. Guest guest
Well I am glad that all the replies are so optimistic because that is not my experience. I have been vegetarean for over 30 years and vegan for 4 and I still have a serious problem. I have at times kept a diary of everything I eat and found that on some ocasions I have prepared enough dinner for 2 nignts and on the 1st night had no problem. Had the 2nd half on the next night and almost blew the house down. I can eat the same thing on different times with different results. Beans do not cause me any problem ever. I am currently experimenting with something called " digest gold " which in made by enzymedica and is suitable for vegans. I am also having some Aleo Vera Juice daily. I will report back on results and would really love it if the results are positive because frankly I am sick of this. I hate the fact that all my friends who eat unhealthy food seem to have better body reactions than me who is constantly lecturing them on the mistakes that they are making and then my body just lets me down at the most inconventient moments. Has anybody had this problem long term and found a remedy Mary , " heartwerk " <heartwork@c...> wrote: > Hi Kevin > > This sometimes happen when you change your diet. Guest guest
If you have gone from a meat based diet then you are eating more fiber. More fiber can cause this problem until your body adjusts. Not to fear, this too shall pass <g> Lynda - Kevin L. McDonald <kevin Wednesday, May 11, 2005 8:27 PM I hope I'm not alone > Oh god, this is one of those times that I hope I'm among " friends. Guest guest
Well, I'm going to hope that my reaction is because of the change in diet and that the more unsettling effects -- the voracity, frequency and curious intensity of perfume primarily -- will eventually dissipate. Unless, of course, I can find a way to fuel my Saturn via methane, in which case this turn of events may prove to be fortuitous, albeit odiferous. --Kevin Join me in my Quest for the Wholly Vegan: http://www.livejournal.com/~spookcomix
Guest guest
Hi Mary Only the fennel tea and maybe peppermint tea. At one time you could buy charcoal tablets which are supposed to help. I don' t know if they are still around. Let us know what happens with the supplement. Jo > Well I am glad that all the replies are so optimistic because that > is not my experience. Guest guest
I was led to believe that this caused by dietary change rather than specifically converting to veg*nism. Allegedly it is all based on gut bacteria responding when presented with food that is isn't used to. The bacteria soon adjust when the new food becomes part of the regular diet and everything goes back to normal. All the best, Stevie --- heartwerk <heartwork wrote: > Hi Kevin > > This sometimes happen when you change your diet. It will probably > last only a few weeks, until your tubes get used to everything. Guest guest
This brings to mind a time when DH was working for the county and went out to a road crew to deliver a message (they were in one of those no man's land areas where the radio wouldn't work). The road crew was opening culvert and this little old lady came down her driveway (picture flowered polyester, black shoes and a gray bun) and told them she was sooo glad they were opening the drains and to thank the other county workers that had fixed the clog in the sewer line the week before. She then went on to say that everytime she flushed she made sure she put in some perfume so the sewer would smell so bad for " all those nice boys who work on the sewer. " Happened 10 years ago but everytime someone gets a little " fragrant " in the house, DH pipes up with, " hey, how come you're not pouring any perfume down that thing. " Lynda - Kevin L.
