?Teeth in America?? WAS So, how bad did I screw up?

I saw that episode of the simpsons and was a little taken aback by

how blatent that remark was but having lived in the US for a little

while (Tampa to be exact)I understood. The remark was that if the US

had not won the war of independance then we (as in U.S ) would all

have yellow teeth.

Amazingly that wasn't the one I was thinking of... must be more of a thing

than I thought.

 

The episode I had in mind was the one where someone (I think Lisa?) needs a

brace and doesn't want one until she's shown a book entitled " Famous British

Smiles " !

It seems to be a pretty popular gag in the US, I'm afraid. " Austin

Powers " really took it up a notch, and referenced it several times. I

have no idea what it is based on.
