Guest guest
Seriously? No really, seriously? Don't mess w/ me, it's 5 in the mornin' and I'm on the first cup of java But if so, I do want to hear!!! Please! Please! But if you are just messing with me young lady.... then Good one! Guest guest
Well, someone said it was the equivalent of farting. All I know is that we had the gal out from the local hospital along with her EEG equipment. First she hooked up some humans, well after telling us how kind the machine had become since in the " old days " she would have been sticking needles in our scalp. After a each person was hooked up, she would stand behind them and stick them with a pin. Some folks jumped, some screamed. She hooked up a carrot and beets and when they were pulled out of the ground the reading was same as a scream in humans. Same with a tree and breaking a twig off. Now, this was shortly after visiting some local farms and finding out how meat reached one's table. There were a bunch of kids whose parents really got their bloomers in a bunch cause their kids refused to eat and would only drink water for a few days. Well, then the science teacher showed everyone what was in the water <g> A really evil little man! Parents were really in an uproar after that one! The first thing you need to realise is that all EEG measures is an electrical impulse - it has no way of registering whether something is feeling " pain " - you could produce exactly the same reading on an EEG from an electrical circuit (if set up to produce the right output), but no-one would be daft enough to claim that resistors or capacitors were screaming. Guest guest
O.K., Peter, make up your mind. Either it is electrical impulses or it is farts. Are mushrooms farting or are they a future source of electrical power? Are mushrooms farting or are they a future source of electrical > power? You are really showing a distinct lack of understanding of this whole topic. When a plant is cut, it results in a release of gas. Now, according to the first law of thermodynamics (or some such scientific thing - never could remember which laws were which) energy can not be destroyed, only transformed. Therefore, when you pump a kinetic energy source (i.e. a release of gas) through an EEG, it picks it up as a source of energy - which is what it is! Doesn't mean that it is " the same " as any other release of energy, just that the EEG reads it as the same. It's really very simple to comprehend. Rather than trying to be clever, try reading a few basic physics books on the nature of energy / EEG. BB Peter
