Guest guest
I turn on the television and all I can find is Blair and Dumbya yapping about spending more taxpayers dollars. I don't know what condition economically countries are in Europe but we don't have another couple of hundred million to spend elsewhere. So, what are the two blow-hards promising? A couple of hundred million to fight AIDS, polio, etc. in Africa. HELLO, fire Halliburton and we can fund every health crisis in the world! Lynda, done venting now and will return you to your regular programming.

Guest guest
Money is actualy only bits of paper and I do not believe that our standard of living would go down if we took care of Africa. Eventually it would probably go up as a result. We all use far more of everything than we need. I grew up in rural Ireland in the sixtys and I got used to going without. I would enjoy going back to a little frugality. Mary , fraggle <EBbrewpunx@e...> wrote: >
Guest guest
Very true Mary. I certainly wouldn't like to live in the same circumstances as the average African person. I had a leaflet from a charity a few months ago, that I intended to support, and I lost the leaflet. Has anybody heard of a charity that helps women who have been severely damaged by childbirth, and whose bladders leak continually. They are then considered dirty and outcasts. A simple operation would put this right. If anyone can help I would be pleased. Guest guest
Hi Lynda I agree - it's pathetic. the amount of money they're talking about is small change to countries the size of the US and the UK, and they could do far more by just cancelling the debt - but then they wouldn't have any leverage to insist on those countries using GM crops, or testing potentially dangerous vaccines on their citizens, so that's definitely out of the window. What really gets me is that the UK alone has enough resource to feed the world - the US must have enough resources to feed the world 50 times over, and what do they do - a couple of hundred million dollars, and no attempt to actually deal with the issues of millions of starving people, while the people in power live in their nice big mansions.
