We bought them because they are diesel and now we can make our own biodiesel in the garage. We bought them because it is impossible to get form point A to point B in the winter without the 4 wheel drive. AND, we can make one trip to town each month and not spend millions on gas making multiple trips! Oh, and older because they aren't made of plastic and don't fall apart and need replacing every five years! For example, we went into our village this evening and a deer ran out in front of us. I mean, deer are about the only animal in the world that make sheep and turkeys look smart! This was not a small deer, this was a good sized doe. If I had been in a soccer mom's mini-van it would have been a goner and the deer probably would have been also. Instead, with the big Suburban, I was able to slow down enough without sliding to only graze the deer on the shoulder. It went arse over tea kettle, got up, shock off the dust and took off across the field. The " boat " has not so much as a scratch!
