Guest guest
It's been five days since I ingested any dairy of any kind, and I was wondering if the three huge pimples I now have are the result of it trying to get out of my system. I normally only get one a month, so this feels like a real zinger. I'm also feeling really exhausted after eating a meal that normally consists of some beans, some salad, and some fruit. I'm hoping that someone else has detox stories to share to make me feel as though I'm on the right track. This fatigue has got to go soon or I'm going to be out of luck. Guest guest
Hi Isobel I can't say I had any detox problems with any change of diet that I have made, but when I was an omnivore I never eat that much meat or dairy anyway. I would imagine it is a way for the body to get rid of the waste. I have read that it takes about two weeks for the body to fully adjust to eating a new diet - i.e. the beans might make you flatulent for the first two weeks, but then you adjust. The body often reacts to a change in diet in all sorts of weird ways. Detoxing can often have various effects, and with dairy you also have the possibility of a form of withdrawal from the morphine-related-drug which naturally occurs in dairy, so that might be the cause of your fatigue. Of course, the other thing to be careful of is to make sure your diet is well balanced, and you're getting all the nutrients you need - sometimes people cut out dairy and then don't replace those nutrients from other sources. Guest guest
Don't worry this has happened with others. Also, a strange ammonia taste and/or smell in the mouth isn't unusual for up to a week. You can help things by drinking a lot of water and/or fresh fruit juice. hth Michael On Behalf Of metalscarab 02 August 2005 13:16 Re: Possible Detox Effects? Guest guest
Before and after. I've been eating beans for lunch for quite a while. Black beans, rice, cilantro, pico, corn with peppers & guac all mixed up. Chipotle makes it so yummy! Anyhow, my son likes to tease me about the correct golf stance and gas! Sometimes it's quite hard to practice he gets to giggling so much! I understand boys never quite grow out of that?Jo Cwazy <heartwork wrote: Did you not get windy before you changed your diet? Guest guest
LOL! Maybe you should try having beans only every other day. You could try nuts to replace the beans, or lentils. I often find rice and beans cause me to be bloated. Jo - Jonnie Hellens Tuesday, August 02, 2005 8:19 PM Re: Re: Possible Detox Effects? Before and after. Guest guest
Are you buying canned beans? If you are cooking your own, the secret is to rinse several times before you cook them. DH was a non-believer and refused to eat beans after his surgery. Finally got him to try them cooked this way and now he demands beans all the time. Guest guest
I don't think dairy is good for the body at all. I think it clogs everything up - just imagine melted cheese - like glue. Guest guest
Yeah, I've tried it that way. I even tried to let them sprout, though I didn't get to eat them that way. It's about 90 in our house during the day and I couldn't get them to sprout before rotting. Maybe I'll try that in our cooler seasons. Oh well...Lynda <lurine wrote: Are you buying canned beans? Guest guest
There is plenty of vegan chocolate available, only dark and not milk. There are hot chocolate drinks that are vegan and there's always good old-fashioned cocoa made with soya or rice milk. Guest guest
I did try it quite a while ago and it didn't seem to help. I have a problem with just about everything that's supposed to cause gas and a lot that isn't. I usually don't have much issue about it (course my family says different on some things) unless it causes bloating. Before I had my stent put in, I had much more inflamationary reaction to everything and it was much, much worse. Everything would cause me to swell up, my watch, my shoes, clothing, anything that seemed to touch me, even tho it didn't seem tight, would cause me to swell against it and then it was tight, vicious circle. You can imagine what a lot of food did to me. I can deal with this.DragonSpiritHealer <dragonspirithealer wrote: Have you tried "beano"? It is here in the U.S. and is supposed to stop that problem.
