Guest guest
Dear Friend, Last year alone, more than 65,000 American horses were killed in the United States and processed for human consumption. In addition, thousands of live horses were transported across the border to Canada for slaughter. After these horses are killed, their flesh is shipped to Europe and Asia for human consumption. This grotesque and inhumane practice must be stopped. The Humane Society Legislative Fund (the lobbying arm of the Humane Society of the United States) needs your support to help put an end to the slaughter of America's horses. I've made my contribution to the campaign. Will you join me? Guest guest
And, ladies, you can help stop their production of horses for slaughter by refusing to use Premarin or any other hormone product from the horse industry in Canada. Guest guest
I don't think horse meat is eaten by people in Europe, well not western Europe anyway. It is used in dog food here. Guest guest
They eat horse meat in France and Belgium that I know of. I know folks that live there and they say it is on the menus and in the markets. They are the main customers for the place in Texas that slaughters and for the plants in Canada. The Premarin colts were being raised specifically for the human consumption market. It is only downs, old critters and skinny horses that were/are going for dog food. There is, or at least was when we were raising/showing horses, a big black market in stolen horses that went to human consumption. Also, a lot of " also rans " went to that market. Guest guest
I suppose it's a long time since I eat meat, so haven't kept up with what's going on.
