Guest guest
My daughter and I went to a brewry yesterday, just before she got her navel pierced. Sadly, everything I wanted to try they were out of. They didn't have that many that were really different, but one sounded really intriguing and it was made with blueberries (200 lbs it said). Another said it had a sweet and chocolate finish. Now I really have the hots to try some chocolate beer! :)peter hurd <swpgh01 wrote: No I dont think that its vegan..... Guest guest
bocks? Well there seemed to be various sized of what looked like copper tanks. There were some hoses coming off of it, I was curious what those might have been. There also was black knobs that seemed to be mounted on a metal rod at the top. I wondered if that was to pull out a sample? One was extremely dusty and the others were just dusty. I wonder if the tanks weren't opperational, just left over for show. Is it pretty complex to make ur own? I also explained that I wanted my glass/mug frosty cold. When they brought it by, she said that they all come out of the dishwasher. The beer was warm, not what I wanted on a 109 degree day! I guess I shoulda just sent it back since I was clear that was so important to me. Otherwise it just tastes bitter. To me that's kinda like serving white wine warm, or red wine cold, u can't enjoy the full flavor correctly!fraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote: heh no..there isn't a beer harvest season.. but..there are beers which are made seasonally traditionally, bocks are made served in the spring, oktoberfest in autumn, etc most brewers(well, of the craft/microbrewing persuasion) are going to produce several seasonal beers..a wheat beer fer the summer maybe, er a holiday beer for winter... now..there is a hop harvesting season..starts about..now..and goes thru september wot you want to know about the brewing process....? beer is more er less my life sad huh.... Guest guest
without seeing them, they were prolly either fermentators er bright tanks fementators are just that..tanks that hold the beer while it ferments..generally conical, but don't have to be brightt anks are the serving tanks for the beer beer is easy to make...its just cooking.. it just takes awhile and...lotsa beer isn't meant to be served ice cold..like you said with the wine..if you serve many beers too cold, you dont get the right flavors its only cheap pilseners that are suppose to be served cold, as in many of em, there isn't that much of a flavor to get...(in general)(i'm talkin about the macrobrewed crap they try and foist off as beer) bock is a top fermenting lager beer that is generally darker and more robust then yer run of the mill lager there are a bunch of sub categories to bock..but...i'll just leave it at that tradionally bocks are made for spring consumption, after the beer has lagered over the winter(lager means "to store" in german) oh..and..there are 2 basic forms of beer ales, which can be generally be fermented at warmer temperatures(up to 50-60F) and have a bottom fermenting yeast.. and lagers...which take longer to ferment, have a top fermenting yeast, and like it colder... Guest guest
I'm guessing that bottom and top are where those yeasts like to hang out to do their job? I'm wondering more and more if they even brew their own stuff. Nobody seemed to know much about the beer they served. She brought me the only 4 beer types they had left - blond, pale, red apple and ugh, can't remember the other. I'm also guessing these were the fermenters. What sort of hoses would need to be comin' out of them tho?fraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote: without seeing them, they were prolly either fermentators er bright tanks fementators are just that..tanks that hold the beer while it ferments..generally conical, but don't have to be brightt anks are the serving tanks for the beer beer is easy to make...its just cooking.. it just takes awhile and...lotsa beer isn't meant to be served ice cold..like you said with the wine..if you serve many beers too cold, you dont get the right flavors its only cheap pilseners that are suppose to be served cold, as in many of em, there isn't that much of a flavor to get...(in general)(i'm talkin about the macrobrewed crap they try and foist off as beer) bock is a top fermenting lager beer that is generally darker and more robust then yer run of the mill lager there are a bunch of sub categories to bock..but...i'll just leave it at that tradionally bocks are made for spring consumption, after the beer has lagered over the winter(lager means "to store" in german) oh..and..there are 2 basic forms of beer ales, which can be generally be fermented at warmer temperatures(up to 50-60F) and have a bottom fermenting yeast.. and lagers...which take longer to ferment, have a top fermenting yeast, and like it colder... Jonnie Hellens Aug 23, 2005 3:52 PM Re: Heathen beer drinkers bocks? Jonnie Hellens Aug 23, 2005 10:31 AM Re: Heathen beer drinkers It used to be another brewery, but now it's Street's of New York. No, not a well known one. The tanks looked pretty interesting. Guest guest
Yeah, but the place that was there before them brewed their own, it might be leftover from them, although there aren't as many tanks as there were previously. I didn't drink then so didn't take the tour, but remember reading about a bunch of dif kinds. The red apple they said compaired to flat tire (but I didn't think so) and was dark. I didn't taste any apple in it. I bet you have to sample it as you move it around? It must suck if you end up with a bad brew, or do you just have a party to get rid of it? U know, the kind that will take anything, no matter how it tastes, if it's free?
