Guest guest
Peter tells me your train fares are very low in comparison with here. If I travelled to work by bus it would cost me £2.80 each way - I live five miles from work! Guest guest
trains don't really go everywhere tho... not like in europe..... its cheaper to fly across the country then it is to train it... and public transpo here is generally the pits... underfunded poor routing when i lived in orange county, the buses would stop running by 8pm BART here stops at midnite so kinda makes it impractical to go to SF on BART if yer going drinking er to a show er something Jo Cwazy <heartwork Sep 1, 2005 11:28 AM Re: Fraggle: Katrina/Oil Affected. Guest guest
I think Peter meant the ones in the cities not cross-country. Our buses stop at about 6.30 p.m. I believe there is one back from the nearest town at about 10.45 p.m. but none on Sundays. I think in London and big towns the public transport is probably quite good. Guest guest
Wish I lived closer to work I have to spend 45 mins each way on a train 5 days a week, and I give the train company 57 quid for their trouble each month, otherwise a daily return would be 5 quid. Still, at least I doont live in the city.... The Valley Vegan..........Jo Cwazy <heartwork wrote: Peter tells me your train fares are very low in comparison with here. Guest guest
It is very expensive to use public transport - and not that convenient. Colin drops me off at work on the way to his, and collects me in the evening. Jo - peter hurd Thursday, September 01, 2005 8:29 PM Re: Fraggle: Katrina/Oil Affected. Guest guest
It's the same here in Chicago. Two days ago $2.89 was best price. Today $3.50. Guest guest
Our bus/transit system is absolutely stupid! These great big Guilligs with one or two people in them instead of little jitneys which would cost a fraction to run. Waste, waste, waste! Guest guest
Very true - I reckon our buses should be smaller too. It would be much more economical.
