Guest guest
Hello all, I was just wondering if anyone has an opinion or information on state required immunizations for school age children. I am considering refusing them for my child based on reports that I read long ago citing that they may cause more harm than good. I don’t have time to research more facts for myself right now, and was also interested on the vegan perspective of the issue. I apologize if this has been addressed before. Gratefully, Lisa p.s. Even information off the top of your head would be appreciated, I am due at the school by 3:30 eastern time.
Guest guest
In the enrollment packet for school there is usually a form to fill out for immunizations. Usually, at least in most states, on the reverse you can fill out a form that says you are using an exemption and don't do vaccinations. They will usually give you a speel about how your child(ren) will have to stay home if there is a measles, etc. outbreak. Most vaccinations that are single dose no longer have the mercury for a preservative. That was one of the major concerns. However, many are made from blood products and some of those blood products are animal, so they wouldn't be vegan. As to the problems, what the government doesn't tell you is the stats on each vaccine which you can review at several sites including the CDC. For example, the measles vaccine. The pharmaceutical companies put out all this info on how many children die from measles if they aren't vaccinated. What they neglect to tell you is that as many children die FROM the vaccine. Some of the vaccines are pushed just for big $$. Hep B would be a point in case. The target population for Hep B is IV drug users, folks who have multiple sex partners and folks who work in the health care field. Last I checked, children aren't in any of those categories but they push the vaccine on children. Children rarely get Hep B, more rarely die from it yet they are the ones more likely to have an adverse reaction to the vaccine. Further, and most important, they haven't a clue how long the vaccine will last once you get it! Most damage is done because of how young children are when they are given these vaccines. The lining of the brain has not matured and most vaccines assault the brain to some degree. Guest guest
About three weeks before classes started (I just started a Master's program at Southern Connecticut State) I got a letter saying that I had to be vaccinated against measles and German measles before I would be allowed to register for or attend classes. The only way I could supposedly get out of doing so was with certification that I couldn't be vaccinated for religious reasons or for health reasons. A doctor has to sign off for it to be for health reasons. I think these are just state laws - I'm not sure how it would work wherever you are. Incidentally, I never supplied the proof that I have been vaccinated - I know I have but christ I'm 30 - who keeps track of childhood immunizations when you're 30? And nobody's stopped me from registering or attending classes. , " l i s a " <lljuway@c...> wrote: > Hello all, > > > > I was just wondering if anyone has an opinion or information on state > required immunizations for school age children. Guest guest
Hi Anna, I'm also taking some college courses, and at first they asked me for proof of vaccinations, I seriously have no idea, were my vacinnes are, so I registered for classes anyway, and no one has brought it up. I believe, schools are more insistent on those things if your a school age kid. > Incidentally, I never supplied the proof that I have been > vaccinated - I know I have but christ I'm 30 - who keeps track of > childhood immunizations when you're 30? Guest guest
Hi Lisa, I would advise to do a search on Vaccine Exemption and your specific state. Because the laws vary from state to state. but here's a sample letter. Even if you haven't a religion, if you say that you do( Lie ) they can't force you to and you have legal rights in all but two states I believe. I got it form this website, http://www.know-vaccines.org/exemption.html Freedom of Religion Request for Exemption from Vaccination To Whom It May Concern: In accordance with Florida Statute 1003.22, which reads in part as follows: Immunization against communicable diseases: school attendance requirements: exemptions. 1003.22 (5)(a): " The provisions of this sections shall not apply if: (a) The parent or guardian of the child objects in writing that the administration of immunizing agents conflicts with his or her religious tenets or practices; " Under the Constitution of the United States we are granted " freedom of religion. " I know of no law that requires one to belong to an organized church or religious sect to practice his sacred beliefs. Please be advised and advise those concerned that I meet the requirements under Florida Statute 1003.22 and am requesting a religious exemption from vaccination because the administration of immunizing agents conflicts with my religious beliefs. Sincerely, _____ Parent or Guardian ______________ Date , " l i s a " <lljuway@c...> wrote: > Hello all, > > > > I was just wondering if anyone has an opinion or information on state > required immunizations for school age children. Guest guest
I think they're also more concerned if you live on campus, which I don't. , " Anouk Sickler " <zurumato@e...> wrote: > > Hi Anna, > > I'm also taking some college courses, > and at first they asked me for proof of vaccinations, > I seriously have no idea, were my vacinnes are, so I registered > for classes anyway, and no one has brought it up. > > I believe, schools are more insistent on those things if your a school > age kid. > > > > > Incidentally, I never supplied the proof that I have been > > vaccinated - I know I have but christ I'm 30 - who keeps track of > > childhood immunizations when you're 30? Guest guest
I would point out that vaccinations are not normally vegan. However, it is a personal decision as to whether to have vaccinations or let your children have them, and I would not look badly on anyone who decided not to take the vegan route on that matter. However, there are homeopathic 'vaccinations' that might be worth exploring before deciding what to do. Jo
