I thought there WAS NO moderator for this group anymore...

I'm seriously thinking of leaving.

how about

*try* not to post anything that might cause offense

someone is always gonna be miffed about something..we can't please everyone

but, overt racism(sexism, homphobia, etc) is not to be tolerated..not in this

group, and not anywhere....

well,

i don't know who this was aim at,

but I do hope that poeple in this group don't

think I'm racist.

I do go out of my way to make sure my kids read books

that take place in other cultures. even though our town is 97 percent caucasian.

I felt free to talk about european settlers, because I really did not think that

anyone in 2005, shares any ancestry with these people, the dna is so watered down by now

that no one would identify or have a relationship with people that existed hundreds of years ago.

If I am wrong, then I apologize, certainly did not intend to offend anyone.

I am currently reading a lot of literature (in their own words) of the settlers and am trying to put everything in perspective.

I myself experience a form of racism almost on a daily basis. whenever

somemone meets me for the first time they always say "where are you from"

bcause, they can't classify me by the way I look. then when I say "i was born in nyc" they then say

"no, where are you really from". instead of acepting me first hand.

It becomes tiring and annoying having to explain my background so often. It should really not matter.

I am working on not make judments/ prejudices about other people. But then it is so human to do so.

I don't know a single person who is free of those two things.

Hi Anouk

I don't remember you saying anything that could be thought of as

racist - so don't worry. History is history and good for discussion.
