Guest guest
we have been lucky, wehre I live we have only gotten the outer bands of rita and katrina. meaning, just a lot of wind and rain for three days. with sudden intervals of stillness of the maddening sun. last september,we had just move here I was, can't remember the name, ivan? I don't have a t.v. no electriciyt for five days, no water for three, my husband was in a business trip in dallas and I was alone with the two kiddies. It was only a category 2 when it hit my town. meaning, some trees got broknen in half.other trees just bended. Signs and posts where knocked down, and there was roof damage. but no one in my town died. (a neighbor, his tree fell right on his car! it was almost funny. shudda parked it somewhere else buddy!) the winodws in my house and the front door kept sounding like they wanted to come off. me and the kiddies just hid in the strongest room ate corn flakes and a bag of organic apples with candles, told ghost stories. cause even our stove is electric. like I said we are preety lucky/blessed. then another one came, Jeanne? this time my husban was with me. again only catagory 2 when it hit my town. We did one of the stupedist thing we have ever done in our lives. I would say THE stupedest but I think I have a while more to live. WE GOT CURIOUS about how it would feel to be in a hurricane. Then we stepped outside our house and started walking down the block. I had one kid, he had the other. I felt my face being pulled out of my bones, and my body was trying to be lifted in the air. as I would walk, the wind would push me farther and faster without effort. I wanted to grab onto something but couldn't. felt controless. I weigh 112. I scream at him to lets get back in and the kids where crying. like I said it was pretty stupid. and messing with danger. will never do that again. I felt spoiled and It makes me ugly. knowing that other people have died. I feel sad that people in new orleans, thought that they could ride it out and payed with their lives. Humans can have such false judjemnts sometimes. I am so glad that there aren't any more hurricanse after Rita, and that the loss of life will be minimal because of the early evacuations. , fraggle <EBbrewpunx@e...> wrote: > hurricanes are erratic and very difficult to chart their future course > > > heartwerk <heartwork@c...> > Sep 23, 2005 4:06 AM > > Re: Fw: Rita/Projection Map > > HI Peter > > It looks like there's quite a few ways it could go ! > > BB > Jo > > -- In , " Peter " <metalscarab@c...> wrote: > > Since there's been a bit of talk of " Rita " ... here's a map of > possible courses... > > > > > > > > > > http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200518_model.html > > >
Guest guest
Anouk, there is no guarantee that Rita is the last hurricane this year. Hurricane season runs from June to the end of November. Guest guest
one of the best things in the world is to take a shower in the tropical rains, sudden warm showers. just get some soap and start cleaning yourself. It is/was common in the caribbean, to go out on your back yard and get soaked. feels good. little kids go nude, while the older ones shower with the underwear on. just for fun. , " Jo Cwazy " <heartwork@c...> wrote: > Fraggle! > > Jo > - > " fraggle " <EBbrewpunx@e...> > > Saturday, September 24, 2005 8:17 PM > Re: Re: Fw: Rita/Projection Map > > > > > > we went streakin in a hurricane once > > ahem
Guest guest
Storms are kewl! We get storms on the coast with 40+ mph winds. It isn't that cold, so folks go out on the dunes or up on the bluff and " lean " on the wind. Unless you let your knees buckle, the wind will hold you up. Neat sensation to just let yourself " fall " into the wind and it " catches " you.. Of course, one must be careful not to go out near the breakers because the sneaker waves take folks routinely. Never to be seen again!
