ok..told peter i'd write about veggie options in Denver..so, just ook me a

bit...

sorry..i'm a busy lil fraggle

first off

Amtrak sux..at least fer on train veggie items

You can bring yer own food and drink (no alcohol tho, but..ahem..we ummm..broke

that rule)(hey, they only had bud, bud lite, and under *imports*..corona,

heineken and sam adams)(sam adams..imported from boston????!!)

they do make vegan meals, but you have to alert them to it 72 hrs earlier, and

considering that most of their meals cost around $15-$21.00 we passed

so

onto denver

first off, last time i was in denver, it seemed veggie places were scattered and

hard t ofind

seems it sure has changed in the ;last couple years

every brewery we went to had some veggie options, and had at least a veggie

burger(of course this prolly was just a vegetarian burger, and not vegan, we

didn't try em)

one brewery would make any of their meat burgers vegetarian

wynkoops had some great veggie items..the hummous plate was delicious

sorry..went to a bunch of breweries...

as fer regular restaurants...

went to a place called Watercourse..on 13th...everyday

:)

very very good...good staff..its vegetarian and vegan..they vegan stuff was

cooked seperately from the vegetarian stuff..they had some yummy vegan desserts

as well(average of 1-2 vegan desserts out of like 8...)

they are open fer breakfast, which we did a couple times, and thru dinner...the

vegan fajitas were also really really good...

the other place we tried is a denver tradition..called the mercury Cafe..the

merc to locals

its in sorta a desolate area of denver..which was fine with us...

old brick buildings...tons of metal art outside..lotsa gardens...very urban

looking tho...

inside was also eclectic...

alas..tho we had heard a ton about this place...i was sorta surprised they

served meat..

apparantly they also cook the vegan stuff on seperate pans

very hippish inside...

there's something about denver..everyplace we went, all they do is play music

which ranges from pink floyd to some sort of new age soft noise with occassional

atonal sounds tossed in...sorry, but it drove us nuts...

fodd was good here..but we liked watercourse better...

interestin decor...beer on tap...

but..service was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

anyways..there ya go

cheers

fraggle

Punk not hit Denver then?

Trying to get my local library to order the new Anti Flag cd, dont know if they will though, might be classed as too political? I `ll let you know. I got acopy of the Transplants album about 2 weeks ago, still not plucked up the inclination to listen to it.....................sigh...................

I cant imagine cowboys in Denver listening to all that new age trance mallarky while riding on the range somehow!

there use to be a large punk scene in denver..but we didn't see any sign of it...

we were gonna see dr know on wed sept 28th, and mdc on sat oct 1st..but

we didn't get int odenver until 3 hours later then we were suppose to, and wanted a few beers first..and i had just seen dr know a few days earlier over here in the east bay..sooo

and, i'll be working 3 MDC shows in the next few days, and decided didn't feel like walkin 20 blocks to try and find the club where they were playing

MDC originally was from tejas(known as the stains then), then moved to SF

DK was in SF as well..but thats the only connection..they played some shows together..but, no shared members er nothin

over the years mdc has stood fer a number of things...millions of dead cops, more dead cops, multi-death corporation, mourn divine correctly(after divine died), more damn capitalists, etc

currently it stands for Magnus Dominus Corpus on the current album

dave never really broke the band up...he moved up to portland a number of years ago, and is now in nyc..but this current line up is all original members

as the rest of you go "huh?" peter hurd Oct 5, 2005 10:52 AM Re: Denver..veggie

are there "cowboy" places in denver? i remember a few good irish pubs, typical sports bars and wynkoops for beer 'n' pool.. seemed like the art scene (i paint and was always checking out small galleries downtown) was disappearing and goth was getting popular -- but that was maybe 7 years ago... always loved seeing the rockies -- especially snow-covered!fraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote:

Hi Peter

I believe that they changed it every album or so.

Millions of Dead Cops, Millions of Damn Christians, Morally Decent

Christians, Millions of Devout Christians, Millions of Dead

Capitalists, Millions of Dead Congressmen, Millions of Dead

Children, Missle Destroyed Civilization, or Multi-Death Corporation,

Male Dominated Culture, Marine Death Corps, Metal Devil Cokes (among

others)

Originally known to many as the Stains (not the other band of the

same name - and before that, the Reejex), the band's name was later

changed to MDC (Millions of Dead Cops) as suggested by a member of

the Dicks. MDC put out (when still the Stains) their first two-song

single as a 45 in 1981 which included their first classic hit and

the still ever-popular " John Wayne was a Nazi " plus b-side " Born To

Die. " The original lineup of the band included Dave, Al Schvitz, and

(X-Con) Ron Posner.

-Millions of Dead Cops was MDC's first LP

-MDC's first EP, Multi-Death Corporation

-The third release of MDC (as MDC) was another EP entitled Millions

of Dead Children

-MDC's fourth release was Smoke Signals

-fifth album Millions of Damn Christians : This Blood's For You

-unsure of the 6th

-MDC released the album Metal Devil Cokes : It's the Real Thing in

early November 1989

And so on...

And hey, that's another good " thing " that came out of the states!

;)

I'm supposed to be a lot of things I'm not, but yes, I do LOVE metal.

Stop forgetting our conversations! LOVE punk too! DK and MDC were

one of my first loves along with Circle Jerks, Sex Pistols and Naked

Raygun.

You do remember how my fav Raygun cd is your least liked don't you?

Nikki :)

No I will never follow

Your truth diseased and hollow

I'll be your destroyer

The world's great annoyer...
