Lynda - peter hurd Tuesday, October 18, 2005 12:10 PM Re: Re: First Gigs... Hi Jo, Most bands split at some time no matter what music they play, I guess some just know when to call it a day, and others just try and live on past glories and cash in on the name even when the more talented and original members have left. Guest guest
You must have a different Bad Company than our Bad Company because the lead singer, well no one at all from the band was named Paul Roger. And, surprise, surprise, we agree on something. Queen should have simply stopped when Freddie died. He WAS Queen! Period! Lynda - Peter I like Paul Rogers as a singer (Bad Company first practiced in the village hall that is in walking distance of where I used to live!), but I'm not sure that his voice is appropriate for Queen music. I've not actually heard any of the material, so could be completely wrong... but if I was going to choose a new singer for Queen, there's about 200 people who I think have more appropriate voices for the style. Paul Rogers is a great singer, just in a very different style. And I do wish that they hadn't called themselves Queen. Queen was always the four members, and the group should have died when Freddie did. Guest guest
HI Peter I think John Deacon had the right idea. He retired after Freddie died. I reckon Brian May should take over from Patrick Moore presenting The Sky At Night and do solo stuff in his spare time. Guest guest
Dio still sings the same as ever - he must be about 63 now. Rob Halford did opt out of a couple of the high screams last time we saw him, but he does a lot heavier music/singing now. Bruce Dickinson is the same as ever. Robert Plant - still good. Ozzy is better now than he was when younger - he can actually sing quite well now. There are so many good singers in rock/metal now it is hard to say who is best, but I think James LaBrie probably. Hopefully his voice will stay good. Jo , " Lynda " <lurine@s...> wrote: > > Yup and a lot of the front men don't know when to give it up. Why would it be someone else suggesting you bring your father? Why wouldn't it be you and your parents chatting away saying ' hey, Stratovarius (or whoever)is playing, shall we go?' There wouldn't necessarily be anyone else involved. The times we have been with people outside the family it has usually been them who have asked if we are going to see a particular band and 'shall we all go together', so we can't be too embarrassing. Guest guest
I think that fraggle is talking about a generation gap. some older people (not jo nor lynda) are very much a representation of their generation and stay there. my mom for instance, was raised in a convent and she could not possible relate to the things that I was interested in, nor could I confide in her being that she was judmental about things she did not understand. I think it is great that Jo and Lynda are cool moms. I aim to be that way too. for a kid, when your friends like your parents, that is the biggest compliment. , " Lynda " <lurine@s...> wrote: > > Geez, Fraggle, all the teens always went everywhere with us, and still do, > including concerts and stuff AND even the mall!
