Thats the whole point, they dont always need to sing, sometimes they just need to lurk menacingly or growl a bit!

It doesnt always have to be about a lead instrument, but more about the songs and the stories they tell. Possibly one of the reasons I went off Prog Rock.

The blues legacy is that of three chords anyway, nowt wrong with that.

Are there any good guitarists out there anymore in bands? Seems they are all 3 chord wonders. The only one I can think of that can make a guitar "sing" is Lang.

Re: First Gigs...

Yep I was brought up on those "old school" bands zep/purple etc, never realy got into priest/maiden. Those bands just didnt seem to have the vituoso guitarists the likes of Page or Blackmore.

I'm now confused... you went off Prog Rock because they have exactly what you've just said you like... ????

Your confused?, try living in my head!

I guess wht I was trying to make was 2 points and got confused again.

1. being a guitarist, I appreciate the instrument and its history in rock music and its innovators/original sounding guitar players.

2. the reason I went off prog was that I thought it was stale, gone a bit Spinal Tap, and my old age attention span was not what it used to be, and I felt there was loads more music out there to be heard.
