Guest guest
I took my son to the cardiologist's today and we were very relieved that he's stable for now. He tried to act all macho and says things like 'if I'm supposed to die, what can I do about it', but I know his health weighs heavily on his mind. Sharon, who has known my boy since birth had a long talk with him after I told her that I think he is struggling with depression and is concerned about his mortality. She told him that his mortality rate is about the same as other kids his age and might actually be lower since kids who suddenly drop dead or have some sort of sudden onset of issues are often ones where there has been some undiagnosed problem. Since he's checked out so often, it's extremely unlikely that there's something they don't know about him. She also told him that if he has to lift weights, that he should be going for low weight and do more reps. She explained that struggling with weights puts too much pressure on his aortic valve. I sure hope it helps. It was sure great to hear that there shouldn't be any procedures this year! Thanks for listening, I just wanted to share the wonderful news. Guest guest
Yeah, me too. I think he needed to be reassured that he's fine. He says he's tired of everyone nagging him about losing some weight. He gained a lot while we were waiting for his last surgery and has never lost it. He grows like a dang weed, but is actually still slightly gaining weight even taking that into consideration. She told him not to concentrate on loosing the weight, but instead of small changes, like doing more active things that he likes and skipping the 'whites' and instead going for colorful fruits and veggies. She said her DH lost 10 lbs by just simply getting rid of mayo. I guess he must have eaten a lot of mayo?heartwerk <jo.heartwork wrote: Hi JonnieI am pleased to hear about your son. Guest guest
Hi Jonnie I reckon there are a lot of calories in mayo and some other sauces. Most of the youngsters I know seem to have sauces with everything - like chips with cheese baked on top and then dipped in mayo! Jo , Jonnie Hellens <jonnie_hellens> wrote: > > Yeah, me too.
