looking for ideas...

The kids picked out a cinnamon/raisin challah for dinner tomorrow and

I wonder if anyone has a thought of a dinner idea that would be

complimented by a cinnamon raisin sweet bread?

Plus, I'm burned out on thinking of dinner ideas...hee, hee...

Thanks in advance!

My mother makes bread machine challah. We always have

challah on Friday night.

She puts

1 envelope active dry yeast

1 Tbsp sugar

2 cups warm water

6 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons butter

2 eggs

all of the above, except one of the eggs, in her bread

machine, pushing just the mix and rise buttons.

When that's done, she removes the dough, splits it

into three even pieces, coils, then braids those.

Before she bakes the breaded loaf, she wisks the

second egg and brushes it over the top. Sometime she

adds sesame seeds to that.

Then she says she bakes it for about 15 minutes at

400°, then reduces the oven to 375° for maybe half an

hour... until it looks golden brown and the kitchen

smells like Shabbat.

She also said, since I was asking so many questions,

that I should come for dinner tomorrow night. I

accepted. The challah will be good. I'm not looking

forward to the fish.

Hi friends,

My kids have started school again and we have decided to pack their

lunches everyday and I am looking for some suggestions on what to

pack. They dont have access to microwaves. I also dont want to send

them with PB & J, chips, cookies, etc, everyday. They deserve some

variety but I cant figure out anything else to send. Please help!

Thanks

Greeting all! We love to make cold wraps for quick easy - non-heated

lunches and they can contain anything (veggies) you wish, for

example: yesterdays wraps were made with thinly sliced cucumber, red

onion, tomato, bibb lettuce and a little dill relish (you can add a

little grated cheese too for those who wish). Take your favorite

tortilla shells, flour seems to work better than corn does for this,

and they make several really good flour tortillas, look for the

flavored ones, ie; like tomato/basil or fresh spicy herbs. sread a

little veganaise on the tortilla then add the " Thinly " sliced

veggies, of whatever you like and top with a little relish (and

optional cheese) and roll it up into a wrap... delicious, easy and

good for you too! blessings to all - doc
