Guest guest
Hi, If you have nothing else to do and aren't cooking at the moment, I thought I would send a link to photos from the garden. You can look in two places, my website, which some have told me is at times slow to load, particularly if you have a slower connection. That one is: http://www.amelor.com/garden/garden.html or a slightly faster connection with fewer pictures but a few more recent than amelor which I haven't updated in a couple of weeks. http://www.flickr.com/photos/gsmattingly/ The flickr one is a bit more all over the place unless you select the flowers or herbs (down near the bottom on the right side,I think). Anyway, off topic but just other things I do. My apologies if this strays a little far afield. Gary

Guest guest
Very impressive, Gary. It looks like you have something blooming all year round. I did not see any pictures of the gardeners. I guess the plants just grow by themselves. Guest guest
Great pictures Gary. Thanks for sharing them. Guru is right though, you should consider using them in postcards. Guest guest
Thanks! The gardeners are just my wife and I. My wife isn't too fond of her picture being taken and I guess I'm not so much either. However Buku the dog doesn't mind at all. Except for late December and parts of January when there is a frost (well, sometimes we have frosts in November & February too), there is usually something blooming. Hm, even during the frosts at times. Gary --- Guru K <greatyoga wrote: > Very impressive, Gary. It looks like you have > something blooming all year round. Guest guest
Gary, the photos are beautiful, the garden looks so inviting! What part of the world is this? Also, I noticed one of your pictures has a large garlic bulb with a squash. We have grown garlic but maybe lose patience and pull it when too young. Any advice on growing garlic? (just like me, off all the beautiful flower photos I ask about the garlic....) , Gary Mattingly <gsmattingly wrote: > > Thanks! > > The gardeners are just my wife and I. Guest guest
Hi, Thanks. San Francisco East Bay area is where the garden and I reside. Can't think of anything special I did with the garlic. We planted the garlic in one of our four raised beds and it is filled with good soil and nutrients, all on a drip irrigation system. Garlic doesn't like our clay soil much so the raised beds with good draining soil works well. I think we probably planted it in the fall and picked it in the spring. They don't survive well in our hot summers. This page has some clues on harvesting: http://www.naturalhub.com/grow_vegetable_type_garlic.htm Gary --- cabrita_trl <roseta_lleo wrote: > Gary, the photos are beautiful, the garden looks > so inviting! Guest guest
Thanks for the garlic link Gary! ....and the San Francisco Bay area does not normally get hot, unless you are on the other side of the tunnel by Orinda/Walnut Creek. Remember Mark Twain? " the coldest winter I have had was a summer in San Francisco " , Gary Mattingly <gsmattingly wrote: > > Hi, > > Thanks.
