I suggest you go to the library and check out some of the vegetarian cook

books, before you buy any. I used to bring them home read them and try some of

the recipes, this way I was ending up with books that I

would use.

Hi everyone.

I was curious what books would be the best to buy with simple

vegetarian recipes. I have one huge book, but most of the recipes

contain about 30 ingredients, and some are so exotic I'd never find

all the ingredients for them. I have a lot of food allergies, so

anything I cook has to be as simple as possible. Plus I don't have a

lot of time. Are the Linda McCartney books everyone keeps talking

about that way? What other authors should I try? Now that it is

getting closer to the holidays, I really want to try out some new recipes.

Thanks!

Hi Michelle,

I like The Vegetarian 5-Ingredient Gourmet by Nava Atlas. Her recipes

are fresh and simple and she includes pantry tips and tips for

creating whole meals around each recipe.

My suggestion is Laurel's Kitchen. It is a basic vegetarian cookbook

that has been around a long time with lots of nutritional information.

It has some more complex recipes, but lots of simple ideas for

surviving on a vegetarian diet. When I became a vegetarian in 1976, a

public health nurse, I was working with, suggested to me. She was

right and I am still using it. It has been updated and revised and is

out in paperback. I have a Linda McCartney cookbook but don't really

consider it simple.
