Guest guest
Hi everyone. I work at an environmental high school with an organic farm. I cook for the 150 kids with our produce. I am spearheading a nutrition program in the school, and am putting up informational posters around the school. I was wondering if anyone had some creative suggestions? I am certainly doing one on foods for brain power, and am also giving detailed nutrition for singular vegetables, like the tomato. Thanks ! Guest guest
What a great project Sara! I never knew there was such a thing as an environmental high school, very cool. What kinds of things are taught there? What about some comparison posters - compare the nutrition in a healthy meal and a fast food meal? And the environmental cost? Like the amount off acreage it takes to produce a pound of beef vs a pound of wheat, etc. Peace, Diane , " gravitygoober " <saralynn77 wrote: > > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Hi, One of the best books for describing what is good about all foods, [the section on veggies is great] is called: Healing With Whole Foods Oriental Traditions and Modern Nutrition By Paul Pitchford ISBN 0-55643-220-8 It is not a new book so you might be able to find a used copy at a reasonable price. The 1993 edition is the revised one. Hope this helps Jeanne
Guest guest
Check out the book Proof Positive by Dr. Neil Nedley. Over 500 illustrations in it and lots of great easy to understand information on the benefits of all kinds of veggies, grains and fruit. You'll love this book. Guest guest
Sara Diane's suggestion is excellent. " The China Study " has a lot of the kinds of facts Diane is talking about. Would you please tell us a little bit about your program such as the cost compared to " regular " programs; the reception by students and parents; anything else you can think of. Sounds like a great program. GB , " strayfeather1 " <otherbox2001 wrote: > > What a great project Sara! I never knew there was such a thing as an > environmental high school, very cool. Guest guest
Diet for a New America and other books by John Robbins address what Diane mentioned. It is a startling statistic.
