Guest guest
I found a great book at the thrift shop on canning. I told a few coworkers I wanted to try canning. They sure make jokes about that: are you nuts you live in So. Cal, someone take her away she snapped, what would you want to do that for and last but not least.......oh no you will kill yourself with botulism. Hahaha. I think I will go and try canning one day soon and only tell the group here about it. Everyove have a nice over the hump day! While folks are buying the expensive stuff off the shelves and sometimes becoming ill , even from the organics. (sigh).. We are eating ours and never once had a bad experience. Just for the fun of it try some jelly or pickled veggies. So easy and so rewarding. Guest guest
That had me thinking along the same line. I see such good sales going on and I would love to have some tomato sauce on hand and a few other things. Thank you for the sterlization tip. I read that in the first part of the book and I have a pressure cooker too. Guest guest
Donna, I have no sympathy for you. I have never canned. My mother canned everything. We had jars and jars of veggies in our basement. When looking at canning recipes, the first thing I see is " sterilize " the jars. I have no idea how to to that. And it looks like lots of work. So, I will probably never can anything. OTOH, I picked up two books today for the total of $1.50. " Cooking With A Food Processor " . I must admit, years ago, I owned a processor and only made bread crumbs. Now I have many recipes that call for one, so tomorrow I am off to WallyWorld. And... " Cooking With Gluten And Seiton " . I am very excited about this one. There is even a " Turkey Roll with Stuffing " made from Seiton. Anyway, just kidding about your canning sympathy. Good luck with your project.
