Guest guest
Lol. I have to come home from work each day to prepare food for my Mom in a resthome. One time she was served a chicken leg and the next time mini shrimps on rice. They still don't understand why she can't have Jello. I was a patient in the hospital once and when I explained to the dietician that I was a vegetarian she said (I kid you not) " Well we have some nice beef stew and that has lots of vegetables in it! " I almost fell out of bed!
Guest guest
Hi there, I apologise if this topic has come up on site before, but I'm a " new kid on the block " ! It is this: even today when we get invited to dinner by friends or go into a restaurant that is not completely vegetarian and announce we are vegetarian, we often get asked " Do you eat fish? " . This always puzzles me : clearly a fish is a cold-blooded animal that lives wholly in water and vegetarians don't eat animals. QED: vegetarians don't eat fish!!! HOWEVER I have heard anecdotally that SOME who describe themselves as vegetarians will eat fish and indeed some describe themselves as " demi veg " to indicate that they will eat some types of animal flesh. Perhaps this is just a " UK thing " and doesn't happen over in the USA: I'd be interested to hear whether any of you/most of you have had similar experiences and indeed whether you have met people who describle themselves as vegetarian and eat fish and if so, what explanation they offer... Best Wishes, Jerry p.s. the Vegetarian Society(UK) used to give us these little cards we could hand out to " errant " restaurants and individuals explaining why vegetarians don't eat fish. Guest guest
When I was in the hospital and told them I was vegetarian someone carefully picked all the meat out of the beef stir-fry. I told them that the next night I wanted stir-fry again, but I wanted the vegetables raw, so that is what I got. It was great. I sat there in bed, munching raw carrots and brocolli and all sorts of very fresh untainted vegetables. Katie Surfingcam <surfingcam wrote: That's too funny!
