Guest guest
Dimure? LOL Me? Seriously what works for me is a large binder and I place recipes I print from the group to try. When I try something I then place it in my recipe book and I have 3 huge ones of all my favorite tried and true recipes. Same with recipes from cookbooks, if I try it I photocopy the recipe and put in my recipe book so I can find it again. All my cookbooks have post it notes to try this and that on pages. I have a huge pile of recipes cut from newspapers and magazines to try and I'm like Beth, they are in a huge stored pile. Guest guest
I have three drawers full of Food Sections from various newspapers. I really mean to cut out the ones I'm specifically interested in and place them in an appropriate place or type them up. There I'll be, on the floor at 97 (or at least that old if not older)(but still quite dead) and relatives will be opening drawers and finding this recipe and this food section oh, and this music magazine and that music magazine or album review in various drawers and cabinets throughout the house, possibly by that point a few bundles tied up in the hallways, certainly still enough room to pass through the hall but . . . I also have several recipe software tools. The one that may have somewhere less than 100 recipes in it is RecipeCenter, which isn't quite what I would like but comes close. Unfortunately I cannot magically transfer recipes in emails and newspapers into it with the ingredients going into the ingredients section, the instructions into that section, etc. Equally unfortunate is that they've taken it from two versions, shareware and freeware, and made it into just a freeware which has fewer capabilities and, I do believe, they are doing hardly any development/enhancement work on it. Same for the music database I've had for years, several hundred CD's in it and many, many more to go. One of these days . . . Gary --- Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > Dimure? Guest guest
YES! Those skinny little post it note marker thingies are all through my cookbooks. i just hacked up a pile of post it notes this morning to use. I'm marking up all kamut & spelt recipes. there aren't a lot so I'm off to the recipe files in hopes of finding some. Guest guest
3 drawers? Cheers!! I hear ya on the eventual organizing! I forgot about all the food sites that have 'cookbook' folders & such to save recipes from their site. they get saved there until I print them out. is recipe collecting/hoarding a recognized disease? Guest guest
For years, I had recipes I cut out in a box. Finally I organized most of my papers in a filing cabinet. Part of it contains recipes. I bought hanging file folders and manila file folders. and divided things into categories like vegetables, entrees, Mexican, cookies, cakes, beverages, etc. I keep the hanging files in all the time and just take the manila ones out. I can find most recipes pretty quick now. GB , Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > > Dimure? Guest guest
I don't have the hanging files, but I do the same thing. Except I have two files right in the front: 1. Weeks Recipes My weeks recipe file seems to get fatter and fatter. Guess I should have a file with just " Favorites " . 2. Recipes to Try. ---- Guru K 9/9/2007 3:19:15 PM Re: organizing recipes ? jUDY For years, I had recipes I cut out in a box. Finally I organized most of my papers in a filing cabinet.
