Guest guest
Where are you from......? and....... what are your favorite places to shop from the rez in upstate new york. i live in a small town, so small it isn't even on all the maps . . . edinburg, pa. it's small enough that we get mail addressed to eburg! i shop at local farmers markets, whole foods and have a larger garden for the things i enjoy that they don't grow. i've not often sold things but if i have a lot and sometimes i do then i'll set up with my neighbor who has a booth all the time. but i have unusual things like melons that others don't grow. we find other farmer's markets but just riding around. i don't do amish stalls, that's all. but generally i can find everything i want or like locally. there are some rare times when we will make the trek to Pittsburgh's market streets but not too often. qupla' hm ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
I'm from West Virginia, so my shopping places are limited. Pretty much I shop at local grocery stores, and Wal*Mart, but our local farmers' market is absolutely great. Unfortunately, it'll be closing up for the fall and winter soon. Guest guest
This is odd, but I've noticed how many people (replying to QOTW) seem to be originally from Indiana--including myself! I lived for a few years in Indianapolis (lotta meat-packing going on there)-- and now live in cattle-food production land (Illinois). The midwest may " feed meat " to the rest of the country, but sometimes I think that, living right in the middle of all that is a good impetus for us to get off that road and go in a different direction! We mid-westerners probably live too close to it and see (hear, smell!!!) too much of it to ignore and then we find there is a better way and it's right here on this site! Yeah! ---Laura B., in Illinois (yes, and born and raised in Indiana!) PS: When I answered the question of the week--did I also add that it SAVES a lot of money to eat veggie? For DH and me it does! We can get things that " keep " in the pantry, too--dried beans, peas, other legumes, and rice, grains, pastas, and canned things--and get fresh stuff at home with a nearby farmer's market....Our " major trips " to the big food shopping places are kept to a minimum--saving us LOTS of gas, too! Our grocery expenses have gone WAY down since we started doing only " veg " meals. Doing it " veggie-style " saves money, saves energy, saves healthcare expenses, saves animals....all kinds of great incentives!
