I need some ideas...fast.

Anyone have any ideas on getting more iron? My dad just found out that

his iron is getting too low. He cant eat eggs or anything with barley

in it. I just brought him some broccoli tonight...and told him to eat

it!

Any ideas of things that taste really good would be appreciated.

He is getting an appt. with his dr. on this and his dr. is aware of the

problem and will check for other issues.

greens, greens, greens. i think lentils are high in iron? beans? an iron pill

w/lots of fiber to stay regular would help, too.

Yes, greens and beans.

And if you eat vitamin C at the same time,

absorbtion of iron is increased.

Here is an idea, mix spinach or other leafy green (rich in iron) with bell

peppers, red and yellow ones (high in Vitamin C)

Greeting all! For breakfast we do green smoothies or if you are not

into " green " breakfast drinks - and can't do wheat (wheat allergies,

and lots of people are allergic to wheat and don't even know it...)

as in cream of wheat or whole wheat breads - try Arrowhead Mills

Organic " Rice and Shine " - contains 4% Iron per 1/4c serving - I eat

1/2 a cup serving and get 8% of my iron intake for the day in one

sitting at breakfast. Also, remember big leafy green salads, or

Brown rice and Nori for lunch and dinner - with lots of fresh

spinach and walnuts thrown in... namaste' doc

Eat beets. They will also help the liver live. Cook in cast iron

pans.
