storing squash

I have (so far) some spaghetti squash and some patty pan squash. Does anyone

know how cool they have to be, to stay in storage? My basement isn't cool

like some, until winter. I have a root cellar at work. I imagine the

refrigerator is too cold. Anyone? Amy

for how long?

Never been in a basement? You California girl....

Mine is an old ugly Michigan basement....not as creepy as my SIL's, which is

like the catacombs.

I assume you are referring only to winter squash. About those, you are right

about the refrigerator. I use acorn squash most because I like it best. I just

store it in a wire basket hanging in the pantry. It occasionally turns orange

before I use it, but that doesn't seem to effect it at all.

Summer squash should always be stored in the refrigerator.
