Guest guest
I love cabbage, but I've never cooked it, I have no idea how to, (boil it?) and no recipes with cabbage in them. The only times I have eaten cabbage is in Asian dishes that I didn't make. Anyone willing to share tasty recipes that include cabbage (minus that nasty coleslaw stuff)? Recipes will be welcomed with an open stomach. Also, I'd like instructions on some different ways to cook cabbage. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, -Mia-
Guest guest
I like boiled cabbage with melted butter. Cold boiled cabbage mixed with cold mashed potato makes a stunning fried patty. Guest guest
Greetings Mia - We love cabbage as well and prepare it several ways - however, our favorite and easiest way is just steamed in our veggie steamer, cut in half and then served w/ a little fresh butter salt and pepper. It does not get much better or easier than this! As close to the source as possible... much luck. namaste' doc , " perrys_babyducky " <perrys_babyducky wrote: > > I love cabbage, but I've never cooked it, I have no idea how to, (boil > it?) and no recipes with cabbage in them. Guest guest
My favorite way to have cabbage is to cut it into slices, steam it until it begins to be translucent, then spritz some balsamic or red wine vinegar on top, sprinkle on some nutritional yeast (or parmesan, if you are so inclined) and fresh cracked black pepper, then enjoy. I have been known to have that for breakfast on occasion... I also used simple shredded steamed cabbage in place of noodles or rice to serve under a stir-fry. ~Rachael , " perrys_babyducky " <perrys_babyducky wrote: > > I love cabbage, but I've never cooked it, I have no idea how to, (boil > it?) and no recipes with cabbage in them. Guest guest
Mia, Here is one that we love. The cabbage comes very tender. The little bit of sesame oil adds a nice flavor. Braised Cabbage 3 cups water 3 tsp vegetable bouillion powder 1 head cabbage, sliced 3 teaspoon Asian sesame oil 1/4 tsp black pepper Arrange cabbage in skillet that has a lid. Add water, bouillon, sesame oil and black pepper to skillet. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and cover skillet. Simmer about 45 minutes, until cabbage is cooked and water is mostly gone. Guest guest
I made a cassarole last night with red cabbage, and while edible, not nearly as good as with the green. Live and learn.
