Guest guest
I cut it in chunks and stir fry with Chinese vegetables for a stir fry dinner. Or I'll cut it very fine - almost shredded - and spray a pan with Pam and saute it until it's just tender-crisp. And when I can find the Boca smoked sausages, I'll boil potatoes, toss in the cabbage, cut into wedges, and the sausages about 10 minutes before it's done and recreate my mom's kielbasa and cabbage. _____ On Behalf Of perrys_babyducky Thursday, September 20, 2007 1:21 AM HELP! I love cabbage, but I've never cooked it, I have no idea how to, (boil it?) and no recipes with cabbage in them. The only times I have eaten cabbage is in Asian dishes that I didn't make. Anyone willing to share tasty recipes that include cabbage (minus that nasty coleslaw stuff)? Recipes will be welcomed with an open stomach. Also, I'd like instructions on some different ways to cook cabbage. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, -Mia-

Guest guest
I usually get a bag of mixed veggies for stir-fry. We like the one that has broccoli, snow peas, baby corns and carrots and mushrooms. I think it's Birds-Eye. I hardly ever make a sauce for my stir-fries but it's a lot like the mix that you get when you order Vegetarian Delight around here. Hm, I think I finally know what I want to make for dinner tonight! _____ On Behalf Of Maryann Thursday, September 20, 2007 2:03 PM Re: Cooked Cabbage HELP! Which Chinese veggies do you use? Guest guest
Do you put the cabbage in first to cook it longer? Guest guest
Hi ! Cabbage can be cooked very well using microwave.Just cut the cabbage into small pieces (it can be shredded also), put them in microwave safe bowl with lid, sprinkle very little water ie about 6-7 drops and microwave for about 5-6 min.cooking cabbage in this way will really make it soft tender, evenly cooked and it will not loose its colour also. After removing from microwave you can season using onion, green chilli, coriander and it really tastes good with rice and paratas..... oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links. Guest guest
Yummers.. my favorite way of using cabbage is to cut it up thinly and put lots in a stuffing casserole (let cabbage and chopped onion sit in two cups of hot veggie broth/black pepper/sage for a few mins to soften up a little then put in the melted butter or Smart Balance margarine stick then mix in the bag of stuffing and pack all in a baking dish and bake. Good served with gravy (I use the recipe off the GravyMaster or Kitchen Bouquet bottle). Or another way I like cabbage is to cut it up thinly and put in a pasta salad. Or cut up thinly for a cole slaw with a grated carrot and a dressing made of mayo or Vegennaise mixed with a bit of rice vinegar and Old Bay seasoning. When I'm on a diet kick cabbage's good to keep me going, or come to think of it I might try this out on my family as a side dish. Cabbage cut up in chunks in veggie broth (my fave is Knorr's vegetarian vegetable broth bouillon in spite of the transfat)/bay leaf/soy sauce/black pepper/smoked paprika and some chopped onion and and pickled jalapeno slices and let boil away in a rice cooker until the liquid's reduced to more of a background sauce and if wanted can mix in some nutritional yeast to thicken it up more. Guest guest
I like to make stir-fried cabbage. You peel off and toss most of the dark leaves. Cut the cabbage into fourths. Then cut the fourths in quarter inch strips. Cut up onions into large cubes (quarter inch squares). Add olive oil to pan. Once hot, add cabbage and onions. Sprinkle with a pinch of sugar as stir frying. Sprinkle with onion-herb Mrs. Dash. Add salt and pepper to taste and continue to stir fry until desired texture (I like mine a little crunchy, but not raw and not over done.
