There might be a intermittent connection in the wiring (ie: a broken wire). Cut

the power

to the doorbell *first* before you do anything else. However, depending on how

your house

is wired, you maybe cutting off power to some lights or small appliances too.

If you're handy, you can remove the face plate on the doorbell outside the door

and pull

the wire to see if the break is reachable. Or it may be reachable from the

chimes inside

the house. You then have two options: strip enough wire to use a marrette to

re-establish

the connection; if there isn't enough wire to strip and use a marrette, the cut

the wire

and marrette the " live " end (the end that eventually ends at the electrical

panel). It

might be cheaper to replace your broken doorbell with a wireless doorbell, than

to have

the wire re-fished through the house. Or you could just buy a door knocker - I

think they

are nicer looking anyway :)

If it's a wireless doorbell, there are batteries in the chimes' box and the

outside button

that activate the doorbell.

If you decide to seek professional help, a handy person should be able to do

this job.

Bringing in an electrician will be expensive and you'll likely have to wait a

few weeks

before they can visit.

I had this problem in my old house. My ears are buzzing in sympathy :(

I love AB. He's a wacko but he's fascinating & has great recipes.

Lentil

cookies seem like a great way to get more protein into the kiddos.

Does anyone have any idea why my doorbell is buzzing like a fire alarm that

needs new

batteries??????????? This high pitched ring/buzz is AWFUL! No, there is no

battery, I

already checked that. OWWW!!!!!

I just saw these made on his show last night, so I've not tried

these yet. They look good and are a unique way of using lentils.
