and put in the mail.

gift ideas

Well, christmas is coming, and for those of us that like to cook and

save money, giving mixes and hot sauces and pestos is right up our

alley. I was wondering what everyone does to make the presents

memorable, and what their favorite gifts to give (and get!) are. This

should be interesting!

I search for cute containers like Maple Syrup type pails and fill them with

cookies, muffins, coffee samples. For me the simplest things make the memory

like a angel decoration handmade found at a craft sale. I love receiving jams

so when I get one I am tickled pink.

I make Lemoncello (lemon liqueur).

Funny story from last Christmas: I usually go to the dollar store and pick up

pretty

bottles for the lemoncello, but last year, I didn't have time to pick up a nice

bottle

before we were going to this party at a friends' about 4 towns away. All I had

was a large

mason jar. So I filled the mason jar, decorated the lid with some fancy paper

and ribbon,

and took it to the party.

The husband of the couple was out walking the dogs when we arrived. The wife

told me to

set the mason jar down on the counter by the door. The husband walked in from

outside,

took one look at the mason jar and said really loudly and dripping with sarcasm,

so that

everyone in the house could hear: " Oh this is nice! Someone brought us a urine

sample! "

It's a good thing the whole gang of us has a really good sense of humour, if not

on the

wacky side. Anyway, we all had some " urine sample " after dinner and it was a big

hit. I

had to write out the recipe 3 times.

Cheers!

I am a candy and fudge maker, and I like to paint and decorate my own

tins, or older ones that I find at the thrift store; they have a wealth

of tins, all shapes and sizes. I found some so very old that they were

actually made of tin; a little spray paint and artistry, and you have a

perfect gift. Needless to say, only decorate the outside of the tin,

and choose your paint wisely. Hot glue will hold all sorts of neat

stuff on there, and popcorn still makes a good packing for the box.

As for me; send me pickled anything. Gosh, I love pickles and relish,

and pickles, and jellies, and pickles, but mainly, pickles. Yummmm,

yummmmm !!!!!!

Blessings, and may cool days be here soon, Jack
