All the donut shops around me fry them in lard so they aren't vegetarian. Too

bad because I'd love to eat jelly donuts now and then.

If you made your own it could be vegetarian. You could cook it in vegetable

I know that the white powdered doughnuts have beef fat in them. Not sure of the

others types. They also have eggs in the cake type. Some vegetarians eat eggs.

I hear Little Debbie makes a single-serve Glazed Cake Donut that is

Vegetarian or vegan. Haven't checked it out myself yet though.

Donuts can be vegetarian. It depends on the ingredients in the donut and

what type of grease they are fried in. If you are going to fry them

yourself, get peanut oil.

I sent an email to Dunkin Donuts to see what type of oil they use.

They have a website and list nutritional (is that an oxymoron?) data

but I am not savy enough to know what they are cooked with. I'll let

you know if I get a response back. Our school PTO has a Dunkin Donut

day each month and I confess I never even considered that issue. Oops!

Krispy kreme doughnuts are vegetarian.

it says right on their website that all donuts are fried in 100%

vegetable oil.

 

unfortunately, they are not vegan..
