Guest guest
What was wrong with the slow cooker cook book. It sounds good. I would like to learn to cook more things in the slow cooker. It would fit my schedule better if I could make dinner at about noon and have it ready to eat at 6. Between 4 and 6 I am always busy. Guest guest
oh and so anyway, Doesn't anyone have a favorite cookbook? I am always looking for fresh ideas.
Guest guest
My favorite is probably " 1,001 Low-Fat Vegetarian Recipies " by Sue Spitler. It was given to me by a young woman who gave up vegetarianism when she got pregnant and had not gone back. It has a bunch of really down to earth, great tasting recipies . This answer is tentative in that I have not yet received the two vegetarian Epicure Cookbooks I ordered, yet. The receipt of those may change my answer. I hope so! Yeah, seems counter-intuitive. I'll have to give it a try. -Erin http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog > I am going to try the Not your Mamas Pot Roast next, I love to use the > crock pot, so I should really keep trying this book, before I totally > give up! >
Guest guest
I have a couple dozen but the one book I always return to is Diet for a Small Planet. It is not just a cookbook but has a lot of information - verified information - about meat and why is isn't a good thing. Lappe does go into protein combination quite a bit, and since then it has been shown unnecessary, but I still like her book more than any of the other vegetarian books I have, or have checked out from the library. Also check out Recipes for a Small Planet by Ellen Buchman Ewald. Jeanne in GA
Guest guest
I also have Fresh From the Vegetarian Slow Cooker but I am really enjoying recipes from this book - I particularly enjoyed: Spicy Black Beans and Rice with Mangoes Farm Stand Chili with Chickpeas Moroccan-style Lentil and Chickpea Soup On the other hand I have had some spectacular disasters from Vegan with a Vengeance, including one recipe which has received rave reviews on here. It's all a matter of individual taste. Guest guest
I will have to look for the 1001 low fat veg recipes, sounds good. I have the original moosewood, that is always a good one to have around too. , " Denise Gontard Cartwright " <dgontard wrote: > > " 1001 Low-Fat Vegetarian Recipes " has my vote too. Guest guest
What one person likes another doesn't. I love the Tassajara original, revied and the bread books. The Vegetarian Epicure book 1 and 2 but for some reason the Moosewoods aren't for me. I don't like the 2 Uncheese cookbooks either, I have tried several recipes only to toss them. One eggplant recipe was edible but nothing I'd make again and yet many people love those 2 cookbooks. That's why it's nice of members want to trade cookbooks. You could end up receiving a treasure. Don't feel bad, LOL - I bought those books back in the mid 70s. Together with the Tassajara books they completely transformed my cooking. Guest guest
I have a special fondness for the original Moosewood cookbook since this was not only my first vegetarian cookbook, but very influential on me cooking vegetarian food and eventually giving up meat. I found that I enjoyed cooking vegetarian recipes while cooking things with meat were an unpleasant chore to me. So my keeping this particular cookbook is more for sentimental reasons than anything else. Whatever recipes I might make from there have been completely transformed over the years anyway.
