I gave an Alton Brown lentil cookie recipe recently. I wonder if

anyone has made it yet and has any comments.

The reason, several gals on Finer Kitchens have commented lately

everything they've ever tried of Alton's recipes have not turned out.

I haven't made the lentil cookies yet and wondered if I really should

try them at all with those comments.

Thanks, Marsha

Hey Marsha.... Do you still have that recipe... I looked in the files for it,

but I must be overlooking it, as I have bad eyes... I would like to try that, if

you still have it. I love Alton! He's sooo cool...in a weird sorta way..LOL...

anyway, if you still have it, can you please send it to me? Thanks, Dallas

Not Marsha, but I know exactly what recipes she's talking about. I've

seen his " Lentil " show more than once and I've been planning to try his

Lentil Cookie recipe. In fact, I was just look at it a couple days ago.

Here's his recipe for Lentil Cookies:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_35628,00.html

It has a 4-star rating (out of 5 stars).

One the same show, he had this recipe for Lentil Soup (rating of 5 stars):

http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_35630,00.html

And Lentil Salad (3 stars):

I'm definitely interested in the cookie and soup recipes. Let us know

if you try them!

In the Alton Brown Lentil soup recipe, I am not familar with one

ingredient: grains of paradies. Anyone know what this is? I did a

search on the Food Network site and came up with nothing.

Grains of paradise is a pepper-like spice. Sam Adams beer uses it in its summer

product. I

keep some in my kitchen, along with cubeb and long pepper, for certain pre-1600

recipes.

It is very mild. If you can't find it, you could substitute regular black pepper

but go lightly.

Or even just skip it!
