It's strange that our government now wants to ban the import of wild

birds - all because of the flue. It was only a few months ago they

decided they wouldn't ban it. With a bit of luck the trade in wild

birds will be really badly affected.

They (the U.S. and GB) were supposed to ban the import of wild exotics back

in the 60s. What the heck happened to that? Why'd the lift that ban. You

can't tell me that all the exotics have suddenly made a mysterious rebirth

and aren't still being impacted by all the folks stealing the babies.

the Wild Bird Conservation Act didn't make it illegal here until 1993...

Avian flu

But they've all gone mad now

Well you'd be pretty mad too

If what happened to cows happened to you

Having your children taken away

Forced to stand in a pen each day

Fed the shit from other dead things

Then chopped to bits...

I only knew about it because the ex's b-i-l was flying small planes in and

out of Mexico, Baja. They were bringing in small cats and birds. We did

our first rescues then because the kittens were so tiny and should never

have been taken away from their mummy. Poor little things. The feds shut

them all down. In fact, there was a big crash out where they filmed that

Stallone movie (Stop Or My Mother Will Shot) at the old Naval base. The

feds were chasing a couple of small planes. One crashed just the other side

of the base and the other one crashed out off Fulton road. Nasty crashes

with body pieces all over the place. Just about what you would expect with

the feds chasing little single engine planes with jets!

Nope, it was all about the ocelots and marqueys (is that how you spell

that?). The federallys were all up in arms because the college kids were

coming down and flying into the areas they weren't supposed to be in. There

wasn't that much of a drug business in those days. Not like you're thinking

of. There were human pieces and spotted cat pelts and bird feathers all

over the places and cops shotting dogs for carrying off pieces of flesh.
