Guest guest
try millions and it still happens but..amazon does the exact same thing they just make publishers and printers do it amazon doesn't warehouse a whole lot..they just have stock of hit titles everything else they order as a " on demand " case by case basis.. you order the book..and then they order it from the publisher er warehouse holding company... and..they have a certain time limit on anything they order..after a set amount of time, they send EVERYTHING back whence it came.... when i worked at Chaosium/wizard's attic, we'd get about 100 titles back from amazon every week.... fraggle Lynda <lurine Nov 2, 2005 9:12 AM Re: Re: walmart expose Hey, better Amazon than all those books going into the dumpster like they used to. And, yes, before anyone asked, that is what used to happend to thousands of books each year. Guest guest
Oh, I was thinking of it from my point of view and all the books that readers used to toss in the dumpster that are now being resold. Yeah know, the flip side of Amazon. Of course, you could always get involved in " book crossing " (I think that's what it's called), where you register each book with a website, then stick a little label inside the front cover and either leave it somewhere, or give it to a charity shop or a library, and then when someone picks it up, they register where they found it, and when they've finished with it leave it somewhere else. It's a great idea, and saves books getting thrown away. Personally, I haven't yet been able to part with any of my books!! BB Peter
