Guest guest
Hi Peter I have the same problem! I'm registered on the site but cannot give anything up. I also Freecycle my books or give them to Amvets or other charities. Guest guest
When my mom married a guy who had more money than we were used to, she had this beautiful full wall bookshelf built. I loved it, lots and lots of wonderful books. I'm still sad that I ended up with none. I guess when she moved here she stored them in someone's garage and they disappeared. fraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote: http://www.bookcrossing.com/I couldn't imagine throwing books away..i once had to sell a bunch of books when i fled my disasterous 8 months in san diego..and i'm still kicking myself fer it...fragglePeter <metalscarabNov 2, 2005 10:27 AM Subject: Re: Re: AMAZON expose> Oh, I was thinking of it from my point of view and all the books that> readers used to toss in the dumpster that are now being resold.Of course, you could always get involved in "book crossing" (I think that'swhat it's called), where you register each book with a website, then stick alittle label inside the front cover and either leave it somewhere, or giveit to a charity shop or a library, and then when someone picks it up, theyregister where they found it, and when they've finished with it leave itsomewhere else. It's a great idea, and saves books getting thrown away.Personally, I haven't yet been able to part with any of my books!!BBPeterExternal control are you gonna let them get you?Do you wanna be a prisoner in the boundaries they set you? Guest guest
The kidlets almost came unhinged one year when we drove past a school and they had a dumpster out in the playground and they were loading it full of books. Seems the schools was just going to throw them all away. They had a fit and called their aunt (her DH is a long haul trucker) and arranged to haul the books to a couple of reservations for their schools. It was really amazing that they would just have all those books hauled to the county landfill! Guest guest
That is criminal, if they were re-usable, why would they do it? Guest guest
yes, It is unfamthomable in nyc, walking down the streets, It is a good way to look for books that people have thrown out. some people have amassed, books for decades, then when they die, nobody cares and they just dump them on the sidewalk.. that being said, there are some which you best serve as recyclable material they are just soooo bad. poorly written, with uninteresting content dated, dumb and boring. Those would best serve to gather the droppings under bird cages. , " Lynda " <lurine@s...> wrote: > > The kidlets almost came unhinged one year when we drove past a school and > they had a dumpster out in the playground and they were loading it full of > books.
