Guest guest
We saw a sign in Berkeley yesterday -- they're gonna put in an Herbivore on Shattuck! Oh, and I'll include a recipe for those who have no interest in Berkeley: Southwest Stuffed Peppers (No amounts on this, because I just make as much as I have stuff for) bell peppers, tops cut off -- chop up the tops brown rice, cooked (leftover works great) black beans, cooked tomatoes, diced (canned and drained work fine) chili powder to taste cumin to taste salt and red pepper (cayenne powder or flakes) to taste corn kernels (canned or frozen work fine) a little olive oil, optional finely chopped onion Mix all except the bell pepper bottoms together in a bowl. Stuff the peppers and put them in a baking dish. If you want, you can pour tomato sauce over them, but when I don't have tomato sauce, a little water works fine. Bake at 350, covered, for at least an hour, until everything is soft and hot. So yummy. And the leftover filling makes a great burrito or taco later. serene -- Religion is like wine: http://jhuger.com My food blog: http://www.reluctantvegan.com My online journal: http://serenejournal.livejournal.com

They don't say anything about it on their website, but next time we walk up there, I'll let you know. Another recipe -- that way the non-locals won't shout too much, maybe. :-) Persimmon Salad 3 fuyu persimmons, peeled and sliced in circles (remove seeds if they're big) 1 slice of sweet onion (red or white) 4 tablespoons of chopped pecans small amount of agave syrup or other honey-like substance On each of four small plates, arrange persimmon slices, then lay a few rings of sweet onion over the top, sprinkle with 1/4 of the pecans, then drizzle with a little agave syrup. SO good. serene
