Guest guest
You can sign up at www. Freecycle.com There will be one in your area. List something to give as an offer for the first transaction. Then place a wanted post asking for an older model crockpot. Trust me you will get a good old Rival brand. Guest guest
I use my older crockpots, they work the best and they are Rival brand. Last month I saw a garage sale next to the grocery store and the woman putting it on asked me to take her crockpot, I said I don't need it and she said, it is only a dollar. It's a Rival and is older but in perfect shape. I bought it and gave to my niece. She has a new expensive one she doesn't like. She loves this old dollar find much better. Wait until Freecycle accepts you into the group and I will help you off list. It is very easy. When I asked for a small Foremen grill to use for veggie burgers in my Mom's room, I think 10 members contacted me. I love Freecycle. Some of the members from the chapter in my area have joined our veg group. I signed up but I do not see how to use it yet....and the site is really slow here. So Rival is the good brand. We have posted free stuff in Craigslist and it has dissapeared in less than an hour.... @ <%40> , thelilacflower wrote: > > You can sign up at www. Freecycle.com > There will be one in your area. Guest guest
Before I retired, I worked for a park district and gave my old Rival crock pot to the district to use for special events such as Halloween. They used it for apple cider and hot dogs and such. Boy, I sure wish I had it back. The newer ones that I have seem to burn things. You cannot bet one of the older Rival models. in Northern Illinois ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
You will find a crockpot on Freecycle, I'm sure of it. The newer ones cook up hotter and faster due to the bacteria in meats I believe. We don't have to worry about that situation when we use the older versions for our vegetarian foods. You will have the best homemade beans, soups and grains from your CP Gene

Guest guest
You are really right about this, . I've heard many people say they can't stand new crockpots for this reason. Guest guest
I have a new one too and it's stainless steel on the outside and many temps on the control. If I set it on low it boils and the lid moves around and it burns everything and makes a mess on my sink. I can't stand that thing. I had my parents after they divorced, the thing was about 20 years old when they gave it to me....I had it for a couple of years until it just wouldn't turn on anymore. It was wonderful. The one I have now does burn things......). I have friends that complain about soups being overcooked too......after only four or five hours. I would definitely go with an older one if you can find one. Michelle thelilacflower@ <thelilacflower%40> wrote: I use my older crockpots, they work the best and they are Rival brand. Guest guest
Hi , If you belong to a local freecycle.org, that may be a good place to find a crock pot. I just moved from Crystal Lake, IL and used freecycle all the time. Good luck! Ebay is another place to find an older model. ~Barb
